Ipad 2 Wi-Fi 3G
Met a computer expert over Christmas. Works in IT in States
Had a Ipad 2 WiFi 3G with him which he spent some time demonstrating to me. Nice bloke, just showed me what it could do without loads of jargon.

Apparently it has a stand alone sat nav (ie does not need to be online) He sees no reason why it would not work on a bike in ,for instance tank bag.

Anyone got any views or indeed experience of such a use.

Cheaper than a Zumo660 and easily carried on bike and would also enable us to get emails and use Skype throughout Europe.

i think it would work well, but i'll be sticking with my zumo for the foreseeable.

you could put it in a tank bag map pocket, but then you'd be looking a long way from the road to check route.

Probably the best TT available. does great things like google destinations and route to photos, downloads user updates etc.
The only negs are you can't load in your own waypoints and uses loads of battery so needs to be plugged in.
Once you have got the app you can use it on your iphone etc. Brilliant, go for it.:)

I got Navigon GPS apps for iPad/Iphone. UK and Eastern USA. Got them half price so a bargain. Used the USA one on an iPhone when we over in the summer and it was great. I have a Zumo 660 so don't use Navigon on the bike here but in quite a few ways I preferred the Navigon software. My iPad is WiFi only so only use it for browsing the maps offline.
