I've got all the bits to connect up my Tom Tom equiped PDA to the bike but no way to mount it to the bike whilst keeping it waterproof.

Any suggestions?

tank bag or map pocket??

or a waterproof case from a dive shop?

I've nearly finished modifying an otterbox to take a 2210 in a TomTom car mount/charging cradle.

It wont be 100% waterproof but should do the job - and the DIY look will suit my 1100.

All I need now is a 12v fused link at the front for power and I'm sorted.

I'll take/post some piccys if you're interested.

Ive been using the otterbox 3600 for a couple of months now.

Have the 3600 box, CF GPS Pod, through the box cabling pod and Ram ball mount attachment.

Upsides
Its a really good solution totally waterproof and I can use the Ipaq whilst riding (not that i recomend it) and see the display easily.

Downsides

Its so bloody big.
The CF GPS Pod is not of sufficient size to accept most gps cards. make sure you check the compatabiolity matrix on the otterbox site before you go for the solution. I had to by a compatable cf card, Pharos CF iGPS, from the states and get it shipped over as I couldn't find any of the compatable ones for sale in the UK.

I currently have it mounted on the VFR using the top of the Ram mount "U - bolt" on to the tank bolts, when I get the GS (in a couple of weeks, all being well with Big Andy, then I will just use the U-bolt.

I don't seem to be able to post pics so if you want to see the set up email me and I send you some

Welcolme to the mad house!!

Welcome o the mad house, I hope your pockets are deep, because you will end up spending a fortune on this site, with all the goodies that come up for sale.

Enjoy the GS, best buy you will have made, had mine for nearly 7 years, can't see me having anything else.

Gary.

Thanks Gary

I have to admit that I am bloody excited. I have been looking at getting a big trailie for over a year now and started of with the GS as foirst option, having looked at all the alternatives I am back where I started.

I was looking at the Otterbox 3600 also.

I've a bluetooth Ipaq 2210 and Tom Tom 3 with extra attachments so all I need is one cable coming out of the bottom for the power/GPS connection or power only if I get a bluetooth receiver.

Deopends on how mauch cash I want to chuck at it I suppose.

Some pics would be most excellent.

I think the best solution is the Otterbox 3600. It also has a RAM mount bracket, to attach it to the bike. The downside is it is abso-flippin'-lutely ginormous.

I produced my own solution for my Ipaq 3630, which is as follows:
Take an Ortlieb waterproof document wallet.
Get some foam to effect a decent waterproof seal. And duct tape the thing closed, for good measure.
Have a mount made to mount the whole kaboodle on my handlebars, as you can see in the pictures below:

There is a thread with lots and lots of pics (in Dutch) on what I did on the Dutch GS forum.

I think, if I was going to do it all again, I would probably go for an Otterbox 3600. But that would have cost me at least twice as much as this solution.

wunderlich sell a tank bag add on with inflatable inner to allow touch screen operation also holds mobile phone and contains a power connector
saw it in catalogue @jeffreys in shipley this week:)

The RAM-HOL-CO3 cradle will hold the 2210, then add a RAM-B-149.. (three choices here).

As to waterproof .. there's Otterboxes as others have mentioned. I have seen a PDA mount review on pocketgps , the link page is www.pocketgps.co.uk/john-childs.php which is in reader mounts. The guy used a plastc zip bag (cheaper and useful)

There's some more iPaq bike mount reviews on www.ram-mount-uk.com

Hope some of this helps.
