Ipaq and memory map

I'm planning to fit an ipaq in a rugged case on a ram mount on a 1200gs. The fix will come from a garmin3+.
Im using this system because I want the OS maps to explore areas and am not interested in autorouting. It also goes in the car. Is anyone else doing this and do you have any advice or tips? I'm a bit worried about vibes on the pda!

Used this setup but without the rugged case last year down to the Vosges. Worked well but I resorted to putting a see through plastic bag over it in the rain. Rugged case should be a better solution!

What I've heard from others who have used non-rugged PDA's on motorcycles is that it's not the vibrations or even the rain that causes problems, it's dust and insects. So I would be real careful that the bag keeps dust out.
