Anybody tried using an iPhone to listen again on the BBC site outside the UK?
Works perectly well on a computer, but on an iPhone it says:

"Sorry programmes cannot be accessed outside of the UK"

Why the difference?

You should not be able to use either outside of the UK... iPlayer only works in the UK...

Well unless you perform some of the tricks like still connect through a UK proxy....

Which works a treat.

I use VPNUK

Also handy for having a US and A IP address if you are here in UK but wanting to search for stuff in US.

Not so in fact - there are no restrictions on using iPlayer to listen again to radio programmes outside the UK - as I said, it works fine on a PC or Mac, just not iPlayer for iPhone.

What I am interested to know is why I can listen to replays of the archers on my Mac when I'm outside the UK, but not on my iPhone?

not sure exactly why that is the case, but i can tell you that the iphone streams from a different source to the regular feed.

Yours truely operates a little side business www.tvexpat.eu and through this we can set you up to use i-player and watch UK TV anywhere including i-phone although I must confess I don't have an i-phone so haven't tried this myself. If you go to the website and look at the set up page you may learn something about the settings that could help solve your problem.
You are correct - you shoudn't have a problem for radio via i-player but the VPN solves access for TV. Proxy servers are rubbish - they are far to random and unreliable and often you can't maintain the connection seemlessly which is a real pain if you want to watch live TV or a film.
10% discount for UKGSER subscribers of course ;)
