Been busy deleting photos and videos to make room for the latest version of WhatsApp on my iPhone and when I checked my progress in Settings > Storage, and it seems that the storage used has actually gone up from 31.5 to 31.7GB. How come? Am I dreaming or what? Hang on- I had another look at it and the "used" has jumped up another notch to 31.8 GB... and... it's down again to 31.7GB. :eek

What's going on? Could it be just a matter of waiting for it to settle down or what?

Result! Having left it for about three hours during which time it was quietly flipping from 31.8MB to 31.7MB and back again and getting nowhere I ‘force restarted’ it (if that’s the term). It is now showing 27GB ‘used’. WhatsApp now duly updated.

It takes a while to “read” the available space. It is not instant.

If you space issues, I suggest not to save (it’s in the settings) wassup inbound files (it’s generally all crap anyway).

Agreed whatsApp will happily save every image sent to you in Photos as well as caching it itself “ double bubble”

Us IT folk get a lot of stick for asking “have you tried turning it off & on again?”
But it often is the best solution :D :thumb

Get a newer phone with a bigger memory.

This is why I still like Android phones over Apple - with upgradable internal storage. I have a 1TB micro SD in mine

much better to use a desktop computer or cloud storage, I have 16TB, so better than your android.
