Have a choice. Won a comp and have to choose, leaning towards to classic as it has 80gb.....

The Nano are the small ones - both external dimensions and capacity
If you are only gonna use the iPod where you will have large pockets and like the idea of more capacity then go for the classic
From my point of view I have seen Nano's used in creative ways - clipped to the strap of ski goggles for instance but I like being able to carry every single piece of music I own which is why I went for the iPod Video (older version of classic)

Get the most expensive one, if you don't like it flog it on here and buy one of the cheaper ones.

I owned a PMP the size of an iPod classic... Now I own a nano (the long skinny one)...
I love the Nano because I can clip it to my collar... it's that tiny... and though it's only 8 gig (and I do miss not having to choose what music to put on it), the small size and long play more than make up for the smaller storage.
When they make 30 gig ones that small I'll be all over it... till then I choose my music.
