The bike performed fantastically. The three times I dropped it I started it again with great trepidation but it fired up no bother each time. The only issue was that after the Cirque de Jaffar day which was mostly first and second gear for 8 hours, the battery was reluctant to fire up the bike the next morning. There was a lot of stopping and starting the day before and I'm aware that the HIDs consume a fair bit of startup power. Perhaps a Hawker Odyssey would have sorted this out??

Mechanically it ran sweet as a nut - I think they TKC80s made me think there were a few more vibrations than usual.
As the pic shows the bike has now 22000 miles on it and there's never been a problem with it at all. Mustn't have been built on a Friday.

Much kudos for tackling the trip on your own - I'm thinking of doing something similar in the next 12 months but two up, at least she can help pick up the bike when I drop it :o

For all the self portraits, did you just use a timer on the camera, or do you have a remote? I noticed one picture even had you riding! :bow

Great pics, yet I know they still don't do justice to what it's like at the time. It shows you don't have to go all the way to the desert to have great fun.

Many of the pics bring back memories, my LHS pannier hit an outcrop on the scary downhill bit of the Jaffar Circus last September when I was with Devon, and the bike and I went flying.

Steve Attwood (ActivMoto) did the Jafar Circus in Jan in snow and ice and was stuck at Hotel Tislit Bride in the snow for three days until the plough arrived!

Yeah I used a gorilla pod and the self timer which can be altered to 20 sec but I couldn't change it from 10 sec so the one where I'm riding involved a quick sprint!

I think I must have taken the right turn you mention. I had an awesome time. I've trekked in the sahara 8 years ago and although I find the bike more fun than hiking now, when I revisit Morocco I'd be more tempted by this area than heading way south.
Maybe our panniers hit the same rock though thankfully I didn't go flying.
Full marks to Steve for tackling that route in snow and ice! :bow

I have the gorilla pod as well - great piece of kit! And as for the timer... I have made a few of those sprints myself!

Nice Report

Nice report Dave Its a shame we didnt meet up looking at the dates we crossed over into Morocco just behind you we also got tied up in the kings visit at first we thougt it was for us. We went on down to Ouarzazate and Zagora we were a bit naive over the distances between places but had a good adventure
