Iridium Plugs

Has anyone noticed any difference with Iridium plugs in a twin spark as against conventional NGK's?

I was told they last longer but the spark isn't as strong.
I change my plugs every 2 years and there standard ngk and cheap so don't see the point of the iridium ones

The spark will be the same on an Iridium plug as a standard plug. The spark will get bigger as the plug wears and the gap gets larger.

Eventually the standard plug will break down because the spark will not jump the gap and will track out through the insulator. It will take much longer for the Iridium plug to reach that stage.

Thanks for the responses, I fitted them to my Kwaks and didn't notice any difference but as the power of the GS is so much less thought they might just be worth a try. I think I will go along with Smug's thoughts though when I'm next due to buy some.

Put iridium plugs in a modern electronic fuel injected vehicle you will see very little difference, put them in something older with mechanical fuel injection and there is a slight improvement BUT where they really shine is in an older bike or car with carbs and a more rudimentary ignition system they are a real boon. My Kat 1100 starts better, runs better at low revs , has a better tickover and pulls much more strongly at revs

I used Iridiums on a '98 Yamaha Diversion 900. Absolutely zero difference.

Standard single electrode NGKs, to the GS same heat value, have also made no difference to the Iridiums I took out (done when I was having ignition coil problems).

Yup Ran them in my Berg and they made a real difference. i don't bother on the GS, just normal plugs and change them at the prescribed intervals.
