Irish economy troubles on BBC Radio 4 now...

Kidnapped

A driver is stuck in a major traffic jam just outside Dublin on the M50 motorway.

Nothing is moving.

Suddenly a Garda knocks on the window. The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What's going on?"

"Pensioners have kidnapped Brian Cowen, Brian Lenehan & Mary Harney, and a bunch of Bankers.
They're asking for a €30 million ransom, otherwise they're going to douse them with petrol and set them on fire.

We're going from car to car taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "How much is everyone giving, on average?"

"About a litre."

What’s at stake?

The entire global financial system:

We are constantly being told by the UK/Irish/US/European Governments and the shower of unelected shit that's in Brussels/Strasbourg that this is a "Global" financial crisis, if that is in fact the case where is Germany or more accurately predominantly Germany getting the money to bail the likes of Greece out of the mire.
The Middle east is not in crisis, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Brasil are not in crisis, India isn't in a financial crisis either. The Middle East and Far East press don't talk about a global crisis or a global recession they refer to it as the "North Atlantic crisis/recession"

The problem lies with the US and European economies.

Did we hear the Word "Governance" used yet ? .
Did i read it somewhere , did trichet use it ? .
Are we losing it ? .

No, your about to get it, the problem being you won't have a say in your own affairs if the deal is forced upon you.

Have you noticed that the crisis is not about what is happening to the ordinary people in Ireland, it's all about the sacred currency, it is a crisis of the euro or the eurozone, the rights and views of citizens of Ireland or any other EU member state don't appear to enter into the equation.
A part of me thinks this is the EUs way of getting back at the Irish for having the temerity to question their judgement by voting no in the first round Lisbon Treaty referendum.

"it would the height of irresponsibility to have a General Election now"

I suppose that's a fair comment for Finna Fail as they are good on irresponsibility? Never liked their catch all approach to ideology - which they had happily embraced by having no ideology; the what ever your having yoursely & I'll have a double party.
Hopefully this will be the last of them & that Ireland will rise out of the ashes again. I just about remember the 50's - grim it was but it lasted 10 years - we will get past this in less that 1/2 that - but please Mr. & Ms. voter if your in that 17% that apparently support FF get a grip, ff sake.

Wow that's made me feel a little bit better.

FF, FG, PD and Labour same shit different colour.

95% of the idiots who enter politics is to fill their own pockets while having power over others.

How many other times around the world has there been boom and busts. You'd think they'd have learnt from those experiences. Nah these hoors didn't and still could give a shit about it, as long as their bank accounts are big and fat. FF are the pigs out George Orwell's Animal Farm.

+1,except the pd's are disabandond:)

I got bussied on the other forum for joining in on a discussion on this very issue. The topic was that finally we'll see the back of billy Kelleher and his odious vote catching shenanigans. Thankfully the grown ups are all on this site.

The "big plan" wiil be announced early next week. I wonder what it'll be.
I'm currently reading a book about the dodgy politics of the last days of the Roman republic when Caeser, Pompei and Crassus formed their triumvirate to garner all the power for themselves much to the dismay of Cicero and the now inneffective senate. Those lads had nothing on cowan and his gang of venal cronies.

Absolutely nothing on Irish media Joe, also looks like P.ie has crashed!
