....my technique is lift your arese 1/2 inch of the seat by pushing down on the pegs and tensing hard all the muscle in your legs and squeeze your arse together like some bird following a freebie arse fit for the beach video from a Sunday rag.

Now hold that position until everything is really fucking hurting then relax - repeat a few times then carry one

If your technique is good your ridding companions don't even know you are doing it and think how the feck does he sit there like a machine for hour after hour

No I could see you doing it...

Do a search on Ebay for "saddle pads" under the Equestrian section and you'll find all sorts of gel pads, impact absorbing sheepskins and so on.......and because there are so many of the posh irresponsible un-insured Henriettas and Tarquins out there, the pices are half those that we pay if something is 'for a motorcyclist'

This for example......£26 delivered, gel, anti-slip and thick where it needs to be (you can't tell from this piccy)

I use these for actual mountain biking but when I was trading the GSA in I knew I had a few hours on the standard seat to put up with so put them on. it made a hell of a difference and last week I had 6 hours on the new bike, used them again and had no problems at all. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/500-flat-seam-cycling-shorts-black-id_8165635.html cheap and chearfull. No idea if the more expensive once will be any better.

Simple. Buy a sports bike. It will take you half the tine to get from A to B, doubling your endurance.

Get a touratech seat....the breathable one.....thousands of miles on mine and never a problem (apart from satnag saying i go too far without stopping.....) and ther beauty is when you flog the bike put original seats back on and flog the Touratech for good money.....simples..:tarka

I've used an airhawk for 4 years now and it's been superb!

You could always consider having gel inserts put into your seat, or wearing comfy cycling style shorts with a of of extra padding.....

:D

Once you figure out how ridiculously little air you need in it the Airhawk is fantastic. On the LC I'd be shuffling on the seat at the 100 mile mark. I can now do 200+ in comfort and after a quick fuel stop I'm good for another 200.

Done quite a few 12 hour days on the gsa. Nothing wrong with that seat as standard. I think you just have to regularly put in the miles. A long trip just now and then without any other hours on the bike sounds painful.

Wreford has the right idea. A £10 sheepskin works a treat too. The seat on the LC is much better :-)

I have a Sargent low seat set you could try out, or there is a place in Easingwold called SmartRRRs that can rebuild your existing seat with new foam or gel packs for a reasonable price. Used them to get a gel pack fitted in my XJR seat, it doubled the distance I could manage.
