35mpg is what I was getting to the gallon when one coil was failing. It sooted up that side so badly it also took out the Lambda sensor. The old coil actually smelled burnt.
Mine has 45K on the clock and was told to expect the other coil to fail fairly soon. I got about 2 miles down the road and the old problem returned. Sure enough the other coil smelled burnt. 2 new coils and one Lambda later and the bike is fine again.
Mine rattles when in neutral, but goes quiet with the clutch lever pulled in.
