Funny that was on the verge of buying one in South-Africa luckilly somebody else bought it before me else I would of been even deeper in the financial poo-poo

Only difference this guy wanted R40 000 --> £2500 and it is mint! 16870 miles on the odo and the tank signed as well. Like I said a very very good thing I did not have £2.5k floating about
£7500 - it is nice but it ain't that nice.

Drop him a note that the PD was not manufactured until 1984 and released in 1985 so his 81 model will need to come down a bit more than that!

I reckon it will hit 7500 euros, which in Jan 08 would have been around £5K

Someone here is taking the pee I think how can you pay £7000 for an old R80,
what are you going to do with it? siurely an R80 GS is ideal for long cross country trips, easy to fix and pick up if things go wrong. That kind of dosh youaint gonna want to get it wet let alone dirty and you'll never get your mony back. Get an old one cheap and RIDE it.

Gone are the days that you could pick up a 80st for 500 quid or an 80g/s mono for less than a grand...
Even a rough 80g/s is worth £1500 now minimum and then you have to spend to get it as you want it.
Last I heard was Civil wanted 4,600 euros for his 81 R80g/s and thats nowhere near mint, in fact it's nowhere near nice IMHO
Basic 80GS paralevers have gone the same way, through the roof !!!!
BY THE WAY , Am I the only one to notice that there are no fuel taps or pipes on the Gaston PD tank, obviously never been used
He's got the rear shock on upside down as well. The later ones mount the other way up. You can see it's pressing into the side of the battery
Lovely looking bike though. With that mileage you would pay the same for a 2nd hand 1200 or F800 gs. I know which one I'd sooner have.

If its only done 10K why did it need a full resto job other than it has sat at the back of a chicken coop and got shat on for 24 years and rotted from the inside-out.

That Gaston bloke got around didn't he signing all those tanks he so definitely did (as opposed to a transfer job)
