Is ABS servo standard, and if so, can it be by-passed?

A long title, I know, but I just wanted to check if the 1150A comes without servo on ABS bikes, and if not is there a reason for this? I do a fair amount of off-road and may look into a servo bypass if this is possible. Has anyone done it?

Look in the Font of Wisdom....

It's possible to get 1150GSs without servo/ABS and for those that do have ABS, it's possible to turn it off (but you have to remember to re-deactivate if you stall). I'm not sure about the fine detail about whether the Adventures ever came without servo/ABS - I couldn't afford an Adventure at the time I bought mine.

It's also possible to remove the servo/ABS if it goes wrong, which is a matter of replacing some hoses and switches, as well as dumping the dead weight.

I thought you only had to re-deactivate if you turn the ignition off. If you stall, you just hit the starter button and just carry on with it still deactivated.
And we are talking about the ABS here as the brakes are still servo assisted whether the ABS is active or not.
Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Fit the rear brake line from the caliper directly to the master cyclinder.

Either run straight brake lines direct to the front calipers or more easily, replace the union block on the RH steering head, where the pipes enter from the m/c and continue out to the servo/abs, with a standard non abs/servo union block which is blanked off to the servo/abs.

Pre 2003 bikes has ABS without the servo- Any bikes after that date, if they had ABS they also had the servo, they go together.

Tim I think it may require more surgery that that I think you have to change brake switches too

Isn't there still an ABS button on the servo off roaders?

I can't remember?

The entire ABS module under the tank is different between the servo/non-servo bikes for one.

Both bikes have a deactivation button.

My 03/2002 Canadian Adventure model does not have servos or linked brakes. I do have ABS though.
