Is Rukka really that good?

Rukka is very good, my 8 year old APR 3 kit is getting a bit tatty now and I don't think it has any of the original rukka zip pulls (i replace them with big stainless steel sea fishing link swivels much easier to use when your hands are cold), but is very waterproof and warm but can be very cool as well having a mesh outer and waterproof inner.

The back protector has just started to deteriorate so will need replacement soon.

Good stuff worth the money IMO

Undecided

I've had Rukka gear for about 7 years now ( previous 15 years with other kit ) I ride year round, all weathers. I had a suit before my current one, that was faultless. It wasn't pro shell, so did wet thru, but kept me dry.
It started to leak after 4 years, did a warranty claim and they gave me a new Athos suit. I traded this against an Arma s suit.

I was very pleased, but then the trousers began to leak in the crotch and the fly zip broke. I did another warranty claim on these, and they replaced with new.
I was chuffed again.

Yesterday I rode 12 miles in semi heavy rain and to my horror I had a wet crotch when I got home. Either I've become incontinent or there is a design prob with this area of the trousers. It does seem tight in this area ( and no I'm not Ron Jeremy ) maybe this is a problem combined with riding a supermoto??
Also one of the zips on the jacket pocket has now fallen apart.
I'm starting to lose faith in Rukkas products. Their customer service is generally fantastic though.

I have a Halvarssons 2 piece suit, and the jacket is a short one just like Rukka. I also get a wet crotch sometimes. I believe it is to do with the fact that the jacket is short, therefore making it easier for rain to get in. Personally, I don't think you can beat a longer style jacket to cure this problem as previously I had a long belstaff which kept me dry for many years.

I have had Rukka gear for almost seven years. My first jacket and trousers, can remember the model, was fantastic in the wet and in the winter. For 4 years and 11 months it was great but then parts of the jacket started to turn brown! There was no issue with the waterproofness of the jacket just the colour.

I e-mailed www.biker-land.de where I had purchased the jacket and trousers and they spoke to Rukka. It was seemingly an issue with a batch of jackets and trousers and a problem with the gortex. Anyway, Rukka honoured their five year guarantee and said they would replace the jacket and trousers. Even better they said and the model I had was now no longer in production they would give me the next new equivalent, the Rukka Argo.

The jacket and trouser have been superb, as good as the originals I had and I get another five year guarantee ! Results

So, yes Rukka are worth the money !

Just taken my 2 1/2 year old ARMAX in today as some of the panels are going brown. It has to go back to Rukka, but the shop were confident that it would be replaced with the ARMAS.

I am delighted that so many are getting excellent warranty service.
The cost of this service is obviously part of the price of suit but it is good to know that is it worth something. Unlike a used-car warranty for example :blast

Picked up a new Armas yesterday - top service . Must be costing GoreTex a few quid.

Keith the owner of Race Leathers Darwin, really rates Halvarssons and states it is his suit of choice & he stocks both Rukka & Halvarssons.
I have three Halvarsson suits and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.
The Graffiti has been worn commuting in the depths of winter & in 38 degrees of heat riding in Milan, it really is an all year round bit of equipment.
Have just got the Qattara suit & also a Prime jacket which are both quality bits of kit.

+1 for Rukka gear. It's meant to rain today, but I couldn't care less, as I know that I'll stay nice and dry.:beerjug:

I have assorted suits, jacket and trousers. I also clock up a lot of miles, well away from home.

The easy answer? Well, there isn't one. Most modern textile clothing is pretty good for most day-to-day applications; look after it and it will (generally) look after you.

Find that water or real cold does get in (as in all day peeing down and minus something)? Work out that it's not like that everyday for 365 days. Just lob a cheap over suit on, over the top.... You don't need a very expensive suit to do that.

Proper layering is as important as the suit itself. The most expensive ( or the cheapest) suit will still be uncomfortable if you do not have the right gear underneath. That simple rule applies for any season or on any day.

Look at what YOU want in a suit, not what somebody else thinks is a must. If you value removable goretex great... Go for a suit with removable goretex.... But, remember that you'll have to stop to insert the lining if it starts to rain hard. Several bods forget that you'll maybe find yourself dropping your strides on the roadside in a monsoon.... Just to try to stay dry. In short, look at several suits, trying them on, trying to imagine what it will really be like to live with for the next five years of intermittent (or regular) use. You are probably the best judge of that.

Remember, if you really are stuck, a bin bag, newspaper and bubble-wrap may still be your best friends in an emergency. If nothing else it makes you laugh and brightens even the shitiest day.

Well today I have converted to Rukka gear. Took a trip to Infinity and picked up a Rukka Mark jacket and a pair of their Focus trousers. With the current sale on the suit cost £699 in total. Considerably cheaper than a new RP3 so I'm very pleased.
