I've had mine for a few weeks now and they do the job as advertised. There's still wind pressure and wind noise, but almost no buffeting - which used to be really annoying and an irritant. I'm a happy customer.

BUT... now the screen is higher and leans back towards me, the silver panel on the instrument cluster that the screen used to protect is taking a bit of a pasting and starting to get lots of stone chip marks. Clearly BMW didn't expect it to be so exposed and the finish is starting to suffer. Maybe a job for my spray can when I do the fork braces and lower legs.

The best solution for high speed cruising on a GS.

Be interesting to see if BMW have taken note and sorted it out on the 1200,
the screen looks a little closer and is adjustable 5 ways..?

V Good ......

They are so I good , my speed has increased substanially , and now I've lost my licence :( :(

Re Licence

Just jesting ;) , I'm 6ft plus , and Tobernator really did it for me.I was out in the rain this morning , and had been for 40 mins , and hadn't remembered to put my visor down.....:) :)

I've just been up to Loughborough and back the day after fitting mine and they work really well...sat on the M1 at 120 indicated and rather than being so smacked around by the wind that it was scary like before, it felt lots more stable.......just a smooth flow of air now and no buffetting......and that was on Tobers' initial suggestion of a position...don't know if i'll even bother fiddling anymore ......

Plus I'd also add it was a pleasure dealing with Andrew.....very quick turnaround, transferred money online, quick responses to queries and good instructions........he even dremmelled out the sides for the adv screen.

Very happy punter......well done Tobers :clap :clap :clap :clap

What settings do you use? I'm 6'3" and prefer to use the high seat position. So far I think the T is a complete waste of time

Tobinators

I only have one complaint regarding 'Tobinators':eyebrow ..........I've been riding about on my GS for almost two years now getting battered and buffetted every which way, then I found 'The Tobinator' and yeeehaaaa no more buffet etc...So my complaint is.....Why aren't these magic gizmos more widely advertised???

If this was the good ole' US of A someone out there would sue for the unnecessary suffering endured before fitting this brill bit of kit.

Cheers Tobers ...Great kit and at 5' 10" (me that is not the gizmo) the standard settings are spot on. Went out today, fiddled with the settings up/down and after 50-60 miles realised standard setting is the one for me.
Cheers

So what is the standard setting? I've tried ridiculously far forward and vertical to really far back and lying down, but I haven't found the sweet-spot yet.

Ditto - can someone who is 6' with an adventure screen fitted tell me how to set them up please.

Ideal setting...

As we used to say in the Forces.....RTBI.....Read the B.....dy instructions.

Just set mine up as per the photo that is with the fitting instructions and 'Bingo' no more buffet. You will always get some turbulence but this gizmo really smooths thigs out for me....
Cheers guys

Yup...agreed........Tobers said he was 6'3" i think and I'm 6'4" so i just used the same settings as he suggested on his instruction sheet and it worked first time.......

Marv!

Rode the bike yesterday for the first time since fitting them and what a HUGE difference. A combination of a new helmet, Arai RX7 Corsair and the GS buffeting made riding almost intolerable and vision blurry.

Fitted the Tobinators, left the screen all the way forward 'cos I haven't got a Dremel, hit the motorways yesterday and today - bloody marvelous. At least a 75% improvement without any fiddling to find the "sweet spot".

Tested the new Autocom + 'phone (not useable with previous level of buffeting) with comms savvy mate and VERY clear both ways at 100mph. One person thought I was in the car until I kicked it down a gear or two and gave it a big twist just to ramp the noise up so's they could hear it.
:D :D :D

Brilliant!

(It was snowing at SPC today - must get heated gloves!)

I use seat low, and Tobe' adjusted screen is pretty much all the way back......but I must have tried about 10 positions prior to this ...suggest u keep at it ;) ;)

I'm willing to set them free for 20 of your earth pounds, not bad considering they've only dangled in the breeze for about 100 miles.

Did you sell the Tobinators???

Tobers.

I tried emailing you thro' your site but no joy ... I'm looking for a set of Tobinators for a standard 1150 ... plus shipping to Hong Kong :D

U can reply here or to [email protected]

CHEERS!

Waterhouse...as people have said, keep trying positions.......I'm 6'4" and perhaps was lucky to find a sweet spot on initial fitting.......however, last week I undid the 'naters to tilt the screen so i could whip out the lights to fit one of Reyno's spiffy grills....stupidly i didn't mark the positions and just stuck it back to what i thought looked right.

The next day I went up to Stourbridge but on the way to meet the others at St Albans from Dartford, the buffetting was worse....a lot worse, that it had been prior to fiting the 'nators in the first place.......

A quick fiddle in the tool roll and a 3 minute readjustment had the screen working again properly, but it wasn't a major movement to make a huge difference!

I've been meaning to go out and loctite the screws up (one came out that day but that was my fault for not tweaking it up properly) and I'll scratch around the plates to mark my settings I think so that next time i have to loosen them i can revert to that setting easily, but it did surprise me how little the margin was between very successfull and properly crap.......

Keep trying mate........It's well worth it when you find the right spot.:D

Tobinators

Fitted Tobinators a couple of days ago purchased after reading favourable comments on this site. I never suffered bad 'bufferting' before, but it was there. I've used Tobers suggested setting and have also shaved away the lip on the plastic screen mounts as recommended. I'm 6'4".

I'm also using a Wunderlich screen, which is slightly taller & wider than standard, sorry can't remember exact dimensions.

On the ride into work this morning, 60 miles in fairly windy conditions I noticed a definite improvement, much smoother air flow around my head.

I plan to do some experimenting with different postions to see if I can improve it even more.

Result so far though is a big thumbs up. Worth buying.

Tried the Tobinators on a few other settings on the way home last night, all worse than Tober's suggested settings, did notice however that even small adjustments make a big difference. Finally settled on settings very near to those suggested.

The airflow now is very smooth.

Highly recommend Tobinators, well worth buying.:)

Been using 'nators' now for 3 months. Wouldn't go back, almost eliminates buffeting/blurred vision at motorway cruising speeds. (no chemicals involved before you ask)

Settings as suggested by Tobers, well done good product. :)

Regs, Alte.
