Is the 1300GS meeting sales expectations?

It would be interesting to know how many 1300 GS’s where registered to compare.

290 is nearly double the 1250 GS they sold this time last year and way up on normal numbers for a given month including the GSA, imo its inflated figures due to run out deals on the GSA and very cheap finance that will make pcp appealing. They are clearing the decks!

BMW registered 1000 bikes overall up from 845 this time last year.

Don’t think my nearest dealer has sold one 1300 yet as they’ve been advertising the same one for months .
I know there’s none over here yet .

Some great deals and a very low apr on the GSA I'm sure will have something to do with it plus people like me who weren't too sure about the 1300 and want one of the last 1250's!
It did cross my mind to cancel at one point but the GSA is so bloody big for my needs.

i see alot of gs1300 being registered and i keep getting emails pushing for pre reg new bikes by the local main dealers but not for me, the looks and gremlins.

From a Pennsylvania, US dealer perspective.

A few weeks ago, when I was picking up the panniers for my Stelvio I chatted with the dealership owner for a while. He said Guzzi was a little disappointed with Stelvio sales (lack of). He had only sold 4 including mine. Then he said "all sales are slow, the 1300GS isn't selling like we thought it would either".

As I looked around I saw at least a dozen new 1300's. He said "they loaded us down with 1250's and we're selling some of them but mainly because BMW's buying down the interest rate to .9%".
When I asked why he thought 1300's weren't selling well he said "the stop sale early on hurt but I think it's mostly price. What they're sending us are loaded with packages and the bikes are just too expensive. Most have Akropovic mufflers that are $1,000, forged wheels, and other stuff that puts them at $26-$27,000, some even higher, and that's before even adding panniers..... which has been another problem!"

He said "that's why I had high expectation for the Stelvio, this is a nice bike and it comes in almost $10K less than the GS. But we're just not getting the traffic that we should be this time of the year, nothing's selling very well." He said used bikes have even slowed down due to the higher interest rates and looked at me funny when I asked "people finance used bikes too?" He said about 70% of new bikes sold are financed and at least that percentage of used bikes are as well. "BMW's low interest rate is really what's moving some new bikes for us but high interest has slowed down everything else".

So from his perspective I gathered that motorcycle sales have slowed down due to inflation and at the same time BMW raised the price too much on their new GS1300.

With slow sales and maybe too much inventory I imagine there'll be some deals to be had come winter. https://www.kissellmotorsports.com/...tory#page=xNewInventory&vc=adventure&make=bmw

I spotted one in Germany the other week. Very surprised i did not see more but plenty GS 1250's

There is definitely something strange going on with bike sales. There are several great low mileage bikes for sale on here that not long ago would have been snapped up very quickly that are just not selling. I was talking to someone about this recently and he suggested it was due to bike saturation. I think he is right. There are just too many great new and used bikes available these days.

Or it could be because people aren’t spending quite as freely nowadays.

If you've got a mortgage and need to renegotiate your deal that extra £200 to £300 on your payments is bound to make a difference to your disposable income plus all the other rising costs, maybe it's all starting to catch up with people.

I do wonder what the PCP deals are doing to used prices.

It's OK to price new bikes sky high if people are buying on PCP and the interest rates are low - but what happens when that bike is 3 years old? A second hand buyer who's paying cash won't be interested at the new price less 3 years of 'normal' depreciation - that would still be an extremely expensive second hand bike.

Should the title of this thread be `Is the 1300gs meeting owners expectations`.....?

That's a good point. When manufacturers offer subsidized low interest for buyers on credit, do they also offer cash discount or rebate for cash buyers... so choose either, or? That's typically what's done here (but not always to the same amount). Either option effectively lowers the price of the vehicle and when the cost of a new vehicle is lowered that generally trickles down to used as well.

You could well be correct

You don't see them in the UK because you can't get one. They can't make them quick enough. But now the last 1250s EVER have rolled off the line , production will now shift to the 1300.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a Year 1 new BMW with a shitty stick if I was buying one outright. But that won't matter to the majority of people who have them on PCP with a warranty and will swap them every two years.

And who would have thought the 1200 Oil head would out last the 1250 generation.

I bought mine outright, and have exactly the same warranty, you don’t need PCP for that. I’ve had one minor issue (seat lock barrel started spinning so couldn’t open seat) which wasn’t much of an issue here, but I wanted fixed before I go to NordKapp next week. Warranty service from the dealer has been great.
