Hi there,

The last week or so, my 1200GSA has been struggling to start. Strangely it's worse when warm. The bike is used daily so I'm a little surprised that I'm having a problem...

So will the dealer swap it or do I need to fork out for a new one? If I do, what make/type does the team recommend?

Richard

Plenty of folk have had new batteries under warranty so speak to yer dealer. Mines just started to get lazy (3 weeks after warranty expired...) so I'm off to buy a new one. Odyssies from Motorworks seem to be the peoples choice and are reckoned to be much more durable than bm batteries for not much more money.

Mine went several months into ownership. 2004 model ABS R1200GS. I took it back to the dealer who replaced the original 14ah battery for a 19ah all done under warranty. I have had no battery issues since, which is about two and a half years. Best of luck.:thumb

What was the make of the 19Ah one please - may be intersted in one of those?

Thanking you.

Can't recall. I'd have to check. Bit dark at the moment. Though I remember it being a different make to the original. Something tells me yuasa but that is a guess (and probably a bad one at that) I'll let you know as soon as I get a look at it.:blast

Apparently, my battery IS knackered but it isn't covered under warranty due to the fact that I have a non-BWM (Datatool) alarm fitted. :spitfire

However they (Park Lane) did agree to swap the fuel filler surround and the crash bars due to corrosion issues.

I guess your warranty will be invalid anyway due to using different petrol to what BWM originally put in the tank, or non-german air in the tyres or something.....

Now that sounds like complete and utter bollox and worth pushing back on.
