I have an '09 FJR and my much loved old 1150 GS on a "multi bike" policy with a well known Broker (CN)..It's just under £400 for the two.
Decided as I've just retired I might treat myself and swap the FJR for a '21 1250 GSA.
I rang the broker and asked for a quote , having been riding well over 40 years and never having a claim, rural address, garaged etc etc...
Certainly Sir, that would be £1059 !!!
I've tried Bmoto and a few for quotes and the cheapest I can find is £716 for the two.

Whilst I was at it, I told them I was now retired and also no longer required commuting cover either (obviously) I was told the underwriters had approved it and it was the same policy but a £10.50 refund...better than nowt I guess...
Oh but we'll charge you £35 for making the change !, Even the lass on the phone sounded embarrassed and apologetic....
Looks like the FJR is staying and I'll save some money too ......

I received the renewal quotation from BeMoto for mine last week - £180. I think I paid them £120 for my MT-09 earlier this year.

No, but I will tomorrow ... Thank you
If there's any quotes you like It's also worth then going direct to the insurers website and getting a quote there too. I've done this in the past with Hastings Direct where I reduced the premium even further but you'll need to check what you're getting as they could be different e.g. a different excess etc.

Believe it or not. Your insurance increases when you retire.
I asked why, as I was no longer travelling back and for to work, apparently now I’m retired I will use the vehicle more. This as we know is BS. I got a part time job and my insurance went back down. As we know they are a law unto themselves.

Oh good, a ‘Mine is smaller than yours’ thread.

:beerjug:

Beaten already by bods on a Facebook group for age 60+ bikers....

"£58 pan European on Bennetts"
"Mine just gone up from 68 to 73. Blackbird fully comp."

21' GS plus London post code. I have just renewed and for the second year in a row, I did the normal comparison websites and no quote was under £1200. I have no points etc etc. After putting the phone down on my current insurers when I got my renewal quote, I eventually went back to Swintons, although they would not honour my initial qoute once I updated my employment etc. And yes, they wanted to charge me £1200 if I said I was retired. So I didn't because I'm not. Only Markerstudy were interested in my business, apparently.

This is why I test rode the 1050 V Strom yesterday as I can see this ending only one way.

Wow, that’s harsh.
I’ve bought bikes and not worried about insurance costs. That’s how I got caught when I bought the wing. Now it seems that it’s something that has to be checked before buying it.

Love how “particular” they are about the occupation pricewise.

In half of the quote forms I usually go through, the description for my job is either missing or inaccurate/generic. Even though it would be under the unbrella (as millions others) of “office worker”.
:D
