Do BMW make a high seat for the '12 GSA or are you solely to use the height adjustment of the standard seat ?

Pretty sure there's only one seat for the GSA which I believe is the highest of all (ie higher than the high GS option)

Use a airhawk that will give you a bit more lift and comfort on the long trips :thumb2

I don't know if BMW have a high seat option, but a quick look through the Touratech catalogue shows some none BMW options.

Seat height

I have TT one piece seat on my triple black and it is a bit higher than standard.

I got a spare pair of seats and had them midified by Tony Archer so they have an extra inch or so of foam, they are considerably more comfortable as well as giving a bit more height / leg room.

On long motorway stretches we have been using Stadium Seats which also lift you a bit higher and give even more comfort, don't like the feel of riding on air on the twisties so much though.

Airhawk

I`d suggest the AirHawk to give you that extra height, also, and to improve the comfort factor.

I`d always try not to be disrespectful and always to leave positive replies so please don`t misunderstand me but, for gods sake, how tall are you :D

I`d have to abseil down the side of the bike if I was trying to get a higher seat height :D

No the standard 1200gsa seat is as high as BMW go.

Only option is to do as I did and get a spare seat rebuilt to your own specification which motorcycleseatworks did for me and is now being used on my standard GS Triple Black.

I think that even the Touratech high seats are no higher than the standard 1200GSA seats - just higher than the standard 1200GS seats.

I found the airhawk is good for long motorway stints but not for twisties as you move around too much (and yes I did have the right amount of air in as per instructions).

I'm 6'4" and find that the seat height is just about right for me on the high setting, so 6'5" and over you may want it higher (depending on leg length of course).

Distance between the pegs and the top of the seat will be the same with either a GSA seat fitted or a GS high seat ;)

Are you sure, I always thought the GSA one was a touch higher it has a flatter profile?

Profile may be ever so slightly different but from experince on a 2006 GSA the actual ht is the same.
Had a secondhand 1200GS high seat which I bought to have rebult and so was able to compare this to the standard 2006 GSA seat. Overall ht was the same.

Have used the rebuilt seat on all my GS's since which is a little taller than the GSA seat but does not slope down towards the front like both the standard GS and GSA seats and is much more comfortable :thumb

GS/GSA seat to peg height
(set on lowest position)
GS = 20in
GSA= 20.5in

anymore questions...:augie

Think I am slowly loosing the will to live but are you actually measuring something on a real bike with real seats i.e. a stock GS high seat and a stock GSA seat - cos that's what I did back in 2006 :comfort
