New computer so naturally BaseCamp only shows the base map even though the maps are installed on the Mac (other software seems to know how to find its own data, but hey ho).

I presume I have to unlock the maps again so plug in the device and go to the appropriate web page. Device is found and I enter the serial number and get this:
[h=1]HTTP Status 500 -[/h]

Any ideas?

I installed garmin communicator 9in order to get to my dashboard on Garmin.com, but as soon as I try and access the dashboard I get the message:
[h=1]Install Garmin Communicator Plugin[/h] To continue, you must update your Garmin Communicator Plugin from version 4.0.1.0 to version 4.2.0.0.
Installation is quick and easy. Continue to the next page for step-by-step instructions.
So I lick the link, Firefox says garmin Communicator 4.2.0.0 has been in stalled, click dashboard and
[h=1]Install Garmin Communicator Plugin[/h] To continue, you must update your Garmin Communicator Plugin from version 4.0.1.0 to version 4.2.0.0.
Installation is quick and easy. Continue to the next page for step-by-step instructions.
This can be repeated as many times as you like.

Seriously, they couldn't make it shitter if they tried.

No I hadn't (on a mac you never seem to have to restart anything), but I have now and its just the same - wants me to update.

Same in Safari and Chrome (except the latter insists the plugin is blocked (it isn't).

I just bought a new zumo 590 . With basecamp.
I had a frickin nightmare trying to unlock maps until...
Plugged my new 590 into my laptop, opened up garmin express then reinstall maps chose computer only on drop down menu.
After this completed I restarted 'puter and basecamp. Click map icon on top row and scroll down to appropriate new map. Et voila! Full use of basecamp.
No idea if this would be the same or similar on a mac.
Hope that's of some help.

As mentioned above I would reinstall maps to Mac with Garmin Express. With device connected it will see the unlock codes.

Doing it now.

Seems a bit daft since all the files are already on the Mac, but I'm getting used to daft with garmin stuff.

Garmin Express seems to think it has downloaded the maps (took around 3 hours), but where are they?

Basecamp says "No detailed maps found" even though the 550 is plugged in. In fact now even the 550 does't seem to have detailed maps on it.

Guess I'll try again.

This is poor, even by garmin standards.

OK, so maps downloaded (again). how do i get BaseCamp to recognise them?

I've unlocked them online and got the message "Successfully unlocked map(s) for device.", but still nothing other than the basemap when the 550 is removed?

Still got the message "No detailed maps found"

What other hoops do I have to jump through?

Non the thing and use google maps on your phone. Can't be worse than this story.

Sent from a widget that can't spell.

What Garmin want is someone to shake up software development, if it was me, Basecrap would be first out of the pram
