Apologies in advance for bringing this well discussed topic again. My local bike garage which charged me £130 for annual service last year is asking £160 this year, claiming "you know, the reset of the service indicator requires quite a bit work on computer".
.
I keep asking myself, am I really that desperate to pay money for someone removing blinking service message? As the indicator status does not mean anything more that a reminder, I guess the reset is not worth the money.
I got a similar issue with my BMW car and I got a cable from ebay allowing me to reset various service indicators. Interestingly, what I discovered afterwards is, that you can enter a "service menu" wihout having the cable at all. It just required particular sequence of actions (press brake pedal when starting, holding certain button for 10s etc). - it is all on youtube
I have tried some of these things on my bike, but no success. I guess if someone would have known of a back door to a service menu, it would have been shared here already.
So, my fellow tossers, is the GS 911 really the only way? And those of you who have the GS 911, is it worth the money? Are you using it often for other things than service indicator reset?
