Is this a good time to buy a 660?

if you buy a garmin you usually get a (one time) voucher code to type in on the website to download the latest map update but it is time limited. that said i didn't take mine up in the time span given and rang the customer support and they revalidated it for me
the software you update by plugging your device in to your 'puter and the software you loaded off the included CD checks for updates and does the job for you.

i've had mine over a year now and love it. i use it every day in the car and on the bike mounting it in the touratech lockable mount which is ace and secure.

I've been waiting 15miuntes now for their support to answer the phone. Premium rate. This is the second time I will have had to return the unit since I bought it about 2 years ago. Tom Tom next time.

The Zumo 660 has been out for a while now and if it wasnt for the global recession I'd have expected Garmin would be issuing a replacement/upgraded model soon. That said I think it has the best range of features for a garmin and whilst some of the newer Nuvi Garmins have some nice features/updates that the 660 doesnt they seem to be missing some key features that hamper thier use (IMO) so whilst its expensive its not just the waterproofing that your paying for.
