Is this impolite?

Having come from many forums and running a bike forum myself (for Aprilia bikes) I can say that this forum is the most aggressive I have ever been on.

It does seems like some people are constantly looking for a post or person to pounce on. The view often being that I got a lemon bike so everyone else's in their opinion is a lemon and should be told so at every opportunity.

Having said that, forums are often a tale of woe anyway as people rarely post that everything is fine and dandy, they often seek a forum because they have a problem and want to vent. That's fair enough, but the manner of the venting on here is off the scale and as said often by people who no longer even own the brand but still feel the need to vent. I really don't see what's in it for them to be honest. Boredom, ego, I dunno ?

it's a shame as it really does lower the tone of the place having to read it and often it becomes a personal tit for tat not related to the topic. It puts people off contributing which is the biggest shame based on my own experience.

Spoonz your comments are bang on I’ve changed from BT to Vodafone and their forum is all doom and gloom and constant complaints. But I’ve had nothing but good results from VF including their much misaligned help lines.

Knutk I think it’s the way of the world even amongst my friends we never seem to agree. I’ve been sailing with a best mate he has a new yacht which is not what I would like to be in offshore. But he thinks it’s great and who am I in amongst friends to disagree. But overtly I call it a marinised caravan (that’s naughty) but because we are close friends and not on a internet forum I keep those comments to myself. Plus some guys are argumentative for argumentative’s sake , hey that could be me.

I don't expect everyone to share my views, nor does it bother me.

But I am surprised to see that some people, regardless of what subject are up, always bring up condescending comments about the ones that haven't seen the Orange light yet. When pointed out, the answere is "it's all a laugh, life is fun" etc.

Well, life should be fun, and we all need to laugh. But every now and then we need to discuss like grown-ups, and then the comments that brings absolutely no meaning or information to the discussion gets boring. And, for some reason, the comments with a grumpy undertone seems to come from the KTM-Family, and hardly from riders of any other brand. Could it be riding the KTM that makes them so grumpy?

And I thought only Harley and Ducati owners are twats...:D
Every MotoGP Race KTM puts on display how "ready to Race" they really are...;)
At least they are Germanic so they can't be all bad...:beerjug:

I really don’t understand (and it’s not limited to R1200GS LC), why would you lurk around a bike specific forum if you don’t own one, or intend to own one. Some people must just have time to waste. Or maybe just pure and simple jealous and are too weak to admit it.

Just been out today and done over 150 miles in the Alps including the Grossglockner loads of large adventure bikes out and about but for the first time in the past 20 years of coming down here in the summer it wasn't a GS/GSA fest with a huge majority of the bikes being BMW ..

This year I would say that for every BMW there was a large capacity KTM, unscientific yes but it shows BMW need to raise the bar and not necessarily with more power

I own 2 BMW's so I know first hand the shortcomings of them. I think it is fair to say that recently, KTM's build quality has massively improved (my friend went from GSA to KTM) and BMW's has massively dropped (I have had 10 fuel strips, new clutch, gearbox, final drive etc.).

Very unscientific. When I spent 2 weeks earlier in the year based just outside Bourg saint Maurice it was like a BMW factory outing the amount that were there. I was on a Ducati sports bike so really was billy no mates except for the 2 guys I was with.

One of which was on a KTM that broke down twice on the trip. He still loves it though, shit happens as they say.

Dont bet on it

KTM seem to be falling into the same "cheapen the product increase the profit" trap as BMW

My mate has had KTM for years and years now and his 2 year old SDR is nowhere near the same build quality as his previos SD

It has been palgued with niggles like clutch cylinder and warped 2 sets of front discs in 5000 miles

Latest is had to have the shock rebuilt at 20K miles as it was fucked

If you want build quality and reliability get a Ducati :D

I seen the Orange light the other week in Switzerland, for about 2 seconds when he flew past me in one of the nice passes...........:D

Bollox it did , you were not trying hard enough , I have chased and passed a group in Spain , we stopped and chatted after and the said how well the BM went and there was no way they could loose me and to catch and over take me impossible , we had a great fast ride , all well matched and joked together at the café. Nice guys and fast , fast riders and Spanish locals.
He even commented that he thought my pots as he called it were making sparks , but it was my pegs lol.
Will be meeting back up with them this year as well we hope.
The Bm on fast , tight roads it at it best.

Stick that's really impressive - them 125 Dukes are fairly fast as well :augie

Well, here we go again.

My point is, it's not about who makes the faster bike og delivers the better quality. It's about the lack of manners of a certaine group of members.

It reminds me a bit about two adults having a conversation, and then you have the brat that keeps nagging about icecream. And no matter what subject is up in the adult conversation the brat is on and on about the icecream.

A forum dicussion does not ruin my night, but it makes me wonder why this brat-behaviour is limited to KTM riders. There must be something that nags them. I just try to understand this, at times, agressive attitude for no obvious reason. It is so unlike the KTM riders that I know.

It isn’t limited to KTM owners - there are several ice cream aficionados amongst the owners of older model GS’es.

Fuel strips? You are not talking about a model produced with the last 5 years right?
