When I was cleaning my bike (1250gsa) I noticed cracks in the paint and looks like it won’t be long before it will come off, it’s where the frame rests on the center stand, anyone else same issue? Thanks

I wouldn’t say it’s normal, but not a common issue either, fact is, only going to get worse, worth a chat with the stealer, still under warranty?

Question for you, as I don’t have one fitted, is that centre stand guard fitted the right way round?

What other way around could that centre stand plate be?

Spin it 180 through the horizontal axis, so that it’s on the front f the stand- that way it’ll protect the stand’s crossbar :nenau

Crossbar still exposed when stand up, most prone to rust bit? If other way round it would cover the stand from damage and water when up? As I say I don’t have one fitted

Got it. Cheers

ps. I think you meant spin it in its vertical axis. No? I mean, doing it on the horizontal would have the wheel cut-out facing the engine not the tyre?

Same on mine. Didn’t make sense to me either as it doesn’t protect the cross member

Actually if you think about it does kind of protect it, notice the lip on the bottom of the guard ? thats what stops grit n other crap hitting the crossbar off the rear wheel when the stand is up. However i covered the crossbar with Helicopter tape just to make sure it wasnt being hit from below. The guard is actually meant to protect the underside of the rear shock area and not the centre stand.

I have 1 and I find it does a good job of keeping shit off the stand plus there is only 1 way to fit it :thumb2

Iv'e just looked at mine and it looks exactly the same as yours. It's not the paint that's bad it's the forked lug that pivots the stand is a cast or drop forged item and will have rough surface finish on it when manufactured and welded to the tubing that is the legs of the centre stand . Then just just blown over with the thinnest coat of black paint possible. So thin in fact it's probably unmeasurable with an Elecometer. .

Sorry, just looked closely at your second photo and can see the crack in the paint on the frame not the stand.
I should wear my reading glasses more often !

the stand guard only fits one way, as mentioned when the stands up ,it acts like a mudsling to stop the bottom of the shock getting covered in crap
