This is the first new BMW GS I have been interested in for over 10 years. I won't be buying one thought. When you can buy a very good low mileage R1150GS or R1200GS TC for £6k or less why would you.

I can see it appealing to a sub-section of our demographic. Why not the 1250 engine though?
Why would anyone want a 1250 water cooled engine, in a retro styled bike that was originally aircooled and BMW already have an aircooled 1200 motor on the shelf to use ?

IMHO, an overall 'better' engine and gearbox?
Not for this application
109 HP is fine on a naked bike and the engine has a dry clutch, so probably better too in the gearbox stakes
It’s an upgrade for the old R9T Urban and suited to this application
R1250/R1300 GS is a totally different type & style of bike

Interesting looking at the specs and suspension travel is 210mm front and 200mm rear and so clearly not intended to be in the same league as an HP2 Enduro (270 F/250 R) particularly given the weight of 229KG before you start adding the essential bits on the configurator!

Triumph Scrambler 1200XE by comparison has 250mm travel front and rear and currently represents far better value for money.

Will definitely get round to having a test ride at some point to see how it compares to my 1200XE and the R9T Scrambler it replaced :)

It puzzles me that 20 years ago they managed a 200kg in the HP bike, so how they achieved that? The 1200GS was around 225kg.
Originally the 80gs was 185/190 kg?
