Is this the right price for a 650gs

Mrs msgs1200 is taking her test in June and wants a GS650. Our local dealer, North Oxford Garage, has a 1 owner 02 in yellow with comfort pack that's done 5000 genuine miles. Haven't seen it yet but going down this afternoon.

They are asking £3295. I'd like to buy locally and also would prefer a dealer sale unless we can get one that still has warranty

Dunno much about 650's - does that seem right> Should I negotiate some extra stuff like crash bars or a Scottoiler?

Is there any stuff I should look out for when I take it out?

I paid that much for my 02 Dakar about this time last year - it had 13000 miles, heated grips, ABS and full service history. Sounds like it might be worth trying to knock them down a little. However, I can't recommend highly enough both the second hand waranty you get when buying from a BMW dealer and NOG in particular. They have been great to me, even though I bought the bike elsewhere.

The price sounds about right to me, especially as you'll get a warranty. Bear in mind it's 6000 mile service (about £250) isn't far off though.

Price would be about right if they included or had done the 6k service.

I would add a Scottoiler anyway, preferably a Touring Kit, & forget the crash bars. They may save the plastics & engine, but could bend the frame instead.

I'd say definitely go for crash bars....but not BMW ones (not sure which mine are, Martin, Rollinsdan ordered them for me...pm him if you want to know). If your wife is anything like me (if you remember, I only passed my test in March) she will drop the bike, and probably on more than one occasion. My bars have saved my bike, only been called into service when the bike was standing still, but I'm sure enough damage would have been done if they hadn't been fitted. It takes some time to get used to the weight of the bike, especially when stationary....crash bars give me the confidence that if the bike goes, he will still be ok!

From what I paid, privately, for my 03 bike in January, I'd say that's not too bad a price - but you should always try to get something extra out of them!

For my money... yes... all dealers are in business to make money, they will have a margin to be made on the bike and they won't sell it for below that margin. The way I've always figured it, it is easier to haggle for things rather than too much money off, but you have nothing to loose by haggling for both ;-)

And it's the right colour, apparently!
