Hi

I'm thinking of buying a 1200gs. I've seen one advertised by a dealer:
2007 (which is the year I want)
Full dealer service
under 25,000 miles
£5,750

It's got a few extras, main one being commander 3. Bike looks great in photos.
This price seams very low to me - or is it?

Any opions greatly received :beerjug:

I would say its about right from a dealer who won't want the bike hanging around too long over winter. Is it a BMW dealer and has warranty?

It is a main dealer but not BMW - advert just says 'warranty'

Cheers

I just got a shade over £5k as a trade in on a 2006 GS (non ABS, full luggage, 26000 miles), at a main but non BMW dealer, sounds right to me, check warranty and that its not due a big service (unless you are handy with the spanners)

Is there such a thing as "too cheap". A strange concept to someone from yorkshire.

I have a 2012 GSA for sale for £9000 if you were interested!?:D Wonderful bike but I'm buying a flat next week!

considering the number of 'too good to be true' ebay sales that have been picked up on here and reported then withdrawn, yes, it's a fair question.

gspod.......there will almost certainly be a GSer close to the dealer where this bike is.......why not ask someone to go take a peek?

I was looking at an 1150 a few months back and I had three nice tossers volunteer to go look at it for me.......in the end, it sold before I was able to move, but that sort of thing is what this place excels at :thumb2

I just bought(privately) an '09, 17k miles, factory lowered, full dealer service 3 days before I picked it up, Ardcases, bagster cover and tankbag for £6k. Its a buyers market, so bide your time until you find a realistically priced one..

I too wanted an 07 (I prefer the styling to that of the later ones, although in truth I have been looking at older GSs as well) - I just bought a late 07, GS, one owner, 4000 miles, FULL service history at main dealer, full luggage, ABS, ASC, tyre pressure, computer and some other stuff with full BMW warrantly from a main dealer for 6995. I know I could have bought cheaper privately but there is a bit of comfort when spending that amount knowing that there is a 12 month warranty. Bought and paid for without seeing it (which I said I would not do), they are delivery it next Friday - hope I like it!!

So no - I don't think your one is too cheap - not at all.

Good idea Fanum thanks.

I very much hope you enjoy your new bike JonP.

Okay thanks guys looks like a good deal but more investigation needed to see if it's a bargain - thanks for all the input.

Still pondering weather to change from my 1100, after all it's only done 112000 miles :D

Personally, I'd be looking at the 08-09 bike instead - it is that much better, and there are starting to be some bargains coming to market - improvements in power, fuelling, gearbox etc. The go better, pick up better and has much better low speed fuelling. For the money they are possibly the pick of the models - a sorted one it as quick as the twin cams with similar mods, and you have a choice of normal or ESA suspension (easy to replace with high quality stuff in either case).

I've only been studying the 1200s for a week or so and I'm mainly going on discussions over on ADVrider. There appear to be many high milage 07s in the states and the consensus is that there are fewer electronic gizmos to go wrong.

This may be utter nonsense and I know the performance of the updated model is better but for my riding ability I'm not sure it would make that much difference :P

I'm still in a quandary: do I keep the old 1100 going for another 5 years, do I sell and fork out around £4000 and enjoy an 07 1200 for the next 5 years or do I bite the bullet and get a 1200 rallye on tick and treat it as a 50th birthday purchase???

In 5 years I will probably get an 800gs to match my wife's as we are planning a big trip, although if I go the rallye route I may keep it.

Keep the 11.......even though it's scary high mileage to those who don't know them, it'll do another 100k, and it probably won't get you back more than a grand and a half if you sell it.

Keep it as a reliable winter hack :thumb2

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm in no hurry, it just ticked most of the boxes. having looked deeper over the weekend it still looks too cheap to me.
