After returning from the daily commute I parked up and turned the bike off. I dilly dallied a bit before opening the front door and before I did the bike made a noise, sort of a squeak. Does it every time now usually 10-15 seconds after shutdown.

What have a broken?

Might be pressure being released from the fuel tank? I sometimes hear odd sounds after switch off... a bit like air being slowly released from a balloon. My S1000RR used to do it too!

It’s the bike making a comment on your riding style. Man Or!! Well I’m sure you had the answer

Sounds like another bike rejection case to me. Take it back demand your hard earned cash is refunded, who would want a bike that squeaks ?

Can you imagine if back in the 70s and 80s if we had these forums then ? The noises and bad handling of the bikes, blimey there would have been some interesting debates on here

Get over it and ride

I used to love the way the power valve on my RD350 used to whir open and closed when you turned the ignition on :rob

S'allright

My wifes car used to make mooing noises at various times after turning off - drove us up the wall trying to hunt it down..

as mentioned above it was the fuel venting from the tank via the cap seal - we left it in the end it bothered nobody and made the neighbours chuckle

My wifes car makes sighing noises when she starts it up, and then sort of 'phew' ing noises when she turns it off .. :nenau

It is indeed the Exhaust flap. I had one changed under warranty because of the loud squeak on startup and off. The exchanged one did initially do it too. But then faded away.

Thanks for the insight. I learn by asking questions but with your years of experience and knowledge clearly that’s the wrong thing to do perhaps there should be some sort of PowerPoint presentation explaining that no questions are allowed...Ironically it would appear you’re the loudest noise on this thread...

As for get over it and ride 9000 miles on an April 17 bike would indicate I am oh sage one...

Some do take it all a bit too seriously. Shame.

Anyway, mine was squeaking again after I got back from a short run out today so I stroked her gently on the beak (she likes that...) and gave her a saucer of milk.

Do I need special ph neutral BMW milk to prevent corrosion or will any moo juice do?
