Oh well i suppose it had to happen lol.
Just sitting here waiting for BMW assist to arrive.
As soon as i turned the ignition on today, i had a cel, and the bike just fast idles,

Fingers crossed its a roadside fix 🤞

On it's way back now,

just waiting for the calls on what's what, and next steps

Tech thought if was throttle potentiometer, but couldn't say for sure, as he didn't have the round pin connector to run the diagnostics lol

So Motoraad will have to do the diagnostics :)

Get it recovered to BMW (Bahnstormer?) and see what they say. The throttle pot sounds the likely culprit.

I would offer to help Mart but my GS911 is the latest OBD version not the 10-pin BMW connector (and I also have no adapter cable) otherwise I could plug in and check outputs.

Hope its a quick and low cost fix.

Its with Bahnstormers now, but wont be looked at until tommorow ,

I was contemplating a newer Gs911 over the weekend funny enough , but didnt in the end (famous last words lol)

It's got the extended warranty, so should be covered, if not i can always purchase the parts ;)

Age and model of bike ? ... there was a batch of late 2017 produced 1200's (2018 model) that have suffered from ECU failures (BMW used an ECU that was unbranded ..no details other than the part nos on the outside of the casing and didn't even show as who manufactured them when scanned)

On mine it showed a fault as the right hand throttle body failure when checked plus a spurious left hand switchgear intermittent fault.

Austrian dealer knew immediately that it was a fritzed ECU as mine was the fourth or fifth they had replaced .

Mine glitched a few times with it dropping into limp home road but luckily it would reboot after turning off the ignition ,however, dealer reckoned that it might do that for a few hours ,days or weeks at most before failing completely

Bosch make the main ECU

It's a 2016, 39K

The fault didn't clear with several ignition cycles,

will know more tommorow ;)

Sorry but you are incorrect Bosch did not make the duff batch and that was the problem, the faulty batch of ecu's only had a sticker on with a bmw part number and no manufacturers details and as stated when scanned with gs911 or the dealers diagnostics there were no manufacturers details recorded , my replacement ecu was made by Bosch.

If you want I can post 911 scans for the bike with the original ecu and the replacement which shows no manufacturers details listed for the one that failed

Sounds a similar fault to mine , twist grip sensor fecked but it’s a sealed unit including the heated grip . £250 inc vat

Any news for the rest of us?

Have you chopped it in for a Honda?

No, still with the dealer.

Throttle grip unit replaced, but not communicating with the throttle bodys, so another part is on order.

Also some other fault codes , not related but of concern have cropped up which they are investigating.

Will have an update by Weds / Thurs this week

Again sounds like an ecu failure throwing up a bunch of spurious faults
