It was a dark & stormy night, and the rain came down in torrents...

Flaming hell mate, that came as a shock.

Sorry to see your trip end that way.

Glad you are OK though.

Blimey, big shock. The bike did you proud over the years, a burnt finger is a good outcome when all things are considered.

Cheers for posting the link Paul, the mrs will now sit and spend a few hours ooohing and aaahing at the pics and it may get her to agree to s long US trip. :thumb2

Wow, I'm gutted for you.

Impressed at the presence of mind to take photos though.

Have a safe journey home.

Always enjoyed your reports and this one was no different.
Couldn't believe it when I went to get the latest update and was met with those dramatic pictures.
Sorry for you for the loss of your bike but pleased that your OK.

Steve

So, here I am with a wine glass in hand reading your RR and glancing at Strictly (particularly when Denise van Outen was on) and then WHAM

Shocking

Glad you are ok though

Thanks for all the messages,PMs & texts - I'm booked on a Ryanair flight home tomorrow (God help me) and am three cervezas into the evening in Guadalajara as I type...

I was half expecting a post after the one showing the flames saying you'd hit the kill switch & all was fine, bar a few scorch marks

I know it's only metal & can be replaced, but after doing Bilcos Alaska trip this year I'd definitely have a big bottom lip for a while if that happened to mine :(

Thankfully, as you mentioned in your earlier post, you have your diaries - with all the pics.

I'm sure if we all had a look in our garages, we'd probably have enough parts between us to rebuild it :D

Glad you're okay though :thumb2

A little light refreshment this evening...

+1 -- yours is the first trip report i have followed and was enjoying until i logged on last night, the day before when i saw the pic of the sports bike rider filling his bike with fuel (sat on the machine) i thought " hope he doesnt have a fire ". So long as your ok thats all that counts, the bike can be replaced.

Omg

Hi Mike

Been following this thread like many and what a shocker.

I'm glad you are ok and your sense for humor hasn't deserted you, I sorry for your loss but I'll sure you will be back biking soon.

If you ever want to drop in for a coffee (Cambs) ......drop me a line, your always welcome.

Bigboy

I had just sat down to catch up with your ride report and was shocked to read how it finished. And impressed that you managed to get piccies at the same time. What a shame for a great bike.

Hope the insurance process is smoother than you fear and the burns heal up quickly.

Been following your report, gutted for you now:( but glad your ok.
great you still have a smile on your face, good luck, hope you get it all sorted ok.

Mike, followed your post and thoroughly enjoying it. Popped back in to catch up and saw that your bike had set on fire. There was a moment when I nearly wept for your beautiful bike and you stranded on your hols. Anyway now i have thought it through a little and seen you are ok and still smiling all is well with the World. Hope you get what its worth from Insurer and good luck with the hunt for a new bike.

Very Best Regards.

Andrew

I assumed this sign meant bad road surface (I have turned onto a small county road and the surface is pretty crap) - but I have just done a translation on it and it would appear it may 'No Road Signs' - can anyone help me out with this one?

I have no idea what this is...

Sorry to read about the end of your trip. I´ve begin to read it just today.

You was right with the meaning of the signal. It´s like "Rough pavement" "Firme" is referred to pavement.

The second photo is to cook chickpea stew. It gives better flavor to the broth.

Again sorry for you, and best wishes.

Next time come across San Sebastián and I´ll invite you a coffe.
