I think you have realised its actually more entertaining to ride then your GSA, and a bigger grin factor :)

Of course it is.:thumb The GSA is a great bike, but dull compared to the R.:D

Sorry to be a pain, but have you any pics of the bike 'luggaged up'

BTW nice bike....

Thanks. I've not been away on the bike yet, so don't have any pictures. There are plenty on the S1000R forum though.:thumb

Where's the customary Akro?

Did BMW forget to make a front mudguard:blast

Looks a bugger to clean, all that body panelling to remove, might as well ride a RT:augie

Find me a sports bike, or naked bike with a full front mudguard, JB.:rob;)

It takes half the time to wash this than it takes to wash the GSA.:beerjug:

My mate Jim, former UKGser member, toured Germany with us last year on his S1000RR, never had a problem, just had his gear bungied on the bike, and a small BMW tank bag with a camera and credit card in and off we went. He's got an S1000R now and love's it, he's racked up a fair few miles on it and again, tailpack fitted, screen and a small tankbag, he's good to go :)

S1000RR TE :) (Sans Tankbag)

It does need to be competitive for sure taking into account the s1000r (naked) fully spec model is £11900 so if the Xr is £3k more does it make it a £3k better bike then the naked version !

It should be priced within reason say £1k more then the s1000r(naked)

£12500 ish for basic bike according to guy on the BMW stand ,then I guess you can plus that by a couple of grand for top, spec.
So Nutty may have the right idea ,get a naked one and adapt it for touring.
new 1200R looked a nice bit of kit

After looking at the bike (s1000xr) in detail today, its horrendous, the quality is shite, ill post my pictures to prove it .

Oh dear. Did you order one?:P

I don't want one after seeing it, I'm just uploading pictures up, i was disappointed, bods moan regarding the gs wc quality, the Xr is awful and it will not be cheap.

The multistrada is top dollar rich, quality has stepped up since vag got involved and it really does show, BMW s1000xr has not got a chance against the mutley .

Mmm, very interesting.:thumb

So lets start, the Xr will be £15k+

You get non span adjustable clutch lever for 15k wtf !

But the £6k kwak versys comes with one !

The engine block on the Xr is bare alloy, CORROSION CORROSION .

The black plastics are Shite, they mark with your finger and will last 5mins.
Nose fairing .

Back to plastics, this is were your knee will sit, a rub mark from my thumb.

The swing arm has come from china, the imperfections in the casting are awful.

But its not just the Xr this is the radiator on the r12r
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416864874.820440.jpg

Chinese tat rebadged as BMW, they should be ashamed

If your into badge snobbery then you will buy the Xr because you will not see past the badge, but BMW are pissing in the wind if they think they can take this on.

The only thing I can think is that they've rushed the bike through, to get it into the show. As its not hitting the streets for 7 months, I'd expect BMW to be developing it further, before launch. But, this is BMW, and they have been known to cut the odd corner here and there, haven't they.:D

So, are you getting a Multistrada?

I was stood amongst several bods, they all noted the plastics and the cheap tacky look to em, i asked a BMW bod if the white bike your allowed to sit on is a finished product and he said it was.

When you go on Wednesday ask steve bellars if thats the finished bike, i noted him amongst the BMW bods having a chat with punters, however after my experience with the gs i don't think my relationship warrants talking about the shite plastics on the both bikes there, so did not bother him. I saw enough that has made me think BMW are not bothered about quality there just chasing the bean counters, the stand was packed with a wealth of bods with very little mechanical knowledge but more badge snobbery .

The quality of the s1000r looked much better then the Xr. I did like the R9T with the akra as well.

Compare ducati...looks high quality..

Tecman, the base ducati mutley is £3k cheaper then the s-model, and that alone looked a cracking bike, the Xr was not what i was expecting i was Adamant it was my nxt purchase, not now .
