Trip meter: 106

So that seems ball park OK for now.

I will update further ....

mnnn

My GSA is 3 months old and had a new sensor fitted at vines on its 600 mile service as it was rubbish, now done 2700 miles and it is better but i wouldnt trust it, i just use the trip meter :thumb2

Mines just had its 600 mile service and they had to rumage round in the tank to find bits of the float and reattach it to the level sensor!!!!!!
There was a tapping noise when you rocked the bike though so obvious fault.
Sorted now so no complaints.:)

The tech guy that worked on my bike told me it was a float! I'm no mug, if I take the filler neck off and find out it was bullshit I will take my bike elsewhere.
Its started tapping again so it will get sorted, trouble is I live 65 miles away from the nearest dealership.
Anybody got an exploded diagram of the internals of the tank?

Number 11 is your fuel level sensor :augie
This seems to be the same for GS/GSA from around 2006/2007 onwards.

You don't have a problem. They really are all like that. They can change ten sensors you will still have the same problem. Wait and see.

The inportant part is that the do the same thing all the time, that is: stay full till you have used about half a tank, then it fall quickly till one or two notches, then your reserve comes on, from there on its pretty accurate it tell you how many miles are left. You just have to get use to it and stop winging. Anybody remember fuel taps and manual reserve......

None of mine have been like that:nenau

My 1150 and the two 1200 GSA that i have had have all been very accurate.

The 2008 model at the moment works as it should with the level dropping in line with miles that are covered.

There would seem to be a probelm if this is not happening:confused:

Mine doesn't. :D It's been known to show over half full after 320 miles or less than a quarter full after 180 miles. It's even been known to gradually fill up as the miles pass. (If only................:) )

Guys currently running an 08 GS1200 the only problem I have with the fuel guage is the range counter, on my old 04 and 06 models I could get 21litres in the tank and have a range of @230 miles my 08 has taken so far a max of 18 litres and that was going 15 miles past an indicated empty giving a range of @200 miles. I had the software updated on the 6k service but this has not affected range. on average how much are you guys putting in from empty?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trip meter: 146
Range comp: 39 - Warning light came on
Tank: 1 blob left

So filled up to the top.

Then the range creep thing started. You know...39,40,41,42,43....

By the time I had done 12 miles I had 198 on the range so perhaps all is well.

Interestingly my old RT used to do the range creep thing ocassionally...then it sort of sorted itself out :nenau

BMW gremlins :nenau

Yes indeed. Always an interesting moment when it suddenly spluttered. Depending on your position, the quick fumble under the tank could be quite nerve racking. And heaven help you if you accidentally ran it on Reserve instead of Main. And found yourself with no reserve when it spluttered.

I wonder what is tapping against the inside of the tank then, not alot in there and certainly nothing that would come loose?
Thanks for the diagram I feel a filler neck removal coming on!:(
