Hi peeps looking for some advice on puncture repair kits ?

Currently have the type supplied by BMW in the tool kit with the doughnut type plug and 3 CO2 bottles, and after my mates fiasco with it despite following the instructions proved to be as much use as a chocolate fire guard ! Has anyone had any success with these kits , tried looking them up on YouTube for the best way of using them with no success!

Would I be better to just bin it and just buy the cord version which seems to be popular and works and if that's the case which kit would you recommend ?

Cheers Jon :thumby:

+1 for Stop & Go puncture repair kit.
Compressor from Bestrest (not cheap but its very good).
Both will fit nicely into a pannier frame toolbox.

Another vote for stop n go from me :thumby: plus I added some of there tat tail type as well after my last puncture which was a funny angle and the plug only partially sealed it :(

I see that you have a compressor too is that because the CO2 bottles are pig to use or simply they don't provide enough air to inflate the tyre fully ?

There's a maximum pressure you'll reach with the CO2 bottles. Think it's about 28psi then the tyre pressure is equal to the CO bottle so no matter how many you use it's impossible to get any higher. :D

Nice one steptoe this is what I like about this forum everyday is a school day so potentially if am loaded up touring with that extra weight a mini air compressor would be a wise investment :beerjug: :thumby:

Soon you will be starting a thread stating that the compressor cuts out after a couple of seconds. You will get replies telling you its BMW's canbus system which is making the compressor cut out. If your lucky you will get a helpful reply advising you buy an additional 12v socket and wire it straight to the battery to avoid the canbus issues. If your even luckier then someone will post a link to such 12v socket and a photo of it fitted...

A bit like this..

And then buy an Airman compressor which is nice and small....

Airman compressor and stop and go kit all day long. I just put crocodile clips on my compressor instead of the supplied fitment. Both of these fit inside my toolbox fitted opposite side to the exhaust.

I have found that the very best puncture repair kit is the one that Roadcraftrider carries on our behalf !

I have no idea what it is or how to use it but it does work

The Airman compressor used to be available at Wilkinsons for £5.99.

Don't pay silly prices for it.

It's a generic compressor with a branded name added and prices vary depending on who's name is stamped on the item :thumb

Motorworks sell one for £15 which is very good. I've not had to use mine yet but a pal has been through two packs and had a 100% success rate.

Taken a few apart including the ones in the all in one jumpstarting kits with compressor and they all look the same. Different name on the plastic outside but apparently the same thing inside. Why take apart? Makes them smaller. JJH
