just to throw some more fuel on the corrosion debate-have anybody elses footrests started to corrode? i thought my bike was faring fairly well in this regard til iv just noticed my rests are turning an orange/scabby colour :eek
its obviously cheap rubbish but i thought these items were common through the whole GS range not just the 1200?

Mine aren't corroding after 4years, 7 months and 43,000 miles so 'cheap rubbish' seems a bit harsh to me.

What year is your bike and how often do you thoroughly wash it?

fizzing GS

mines a 56 reg & the rest of it is great, even the front cover is unmarked.
its seen acf50 in bad weather & regular washing at other times-its just got scabby footrests-spose im lucky its just a small problem compared to other peoples nightmares.

Just had 2 boxes full of parts powder coated (including the front pegs).
Mother nature will take her toll, just clean it more, and eventually repaint it.

You can't see it if it's covered in mud. Get it dirty, they look better :thumb2

If it isn't structural then it's character :toungincheek
