Hi all,

Filled up yesterday (2/3rds of a tank) but then noticed as I was about to ride off that I had put in the higher octane (so called Advanced) petrol! :blast

The bike has less than 200 miles on the clock and it was only a mile from the filling station to home.

Apart from the fact that the fuel cost a few pence more will it do any harm to my p&j?

Oh my God

Drain it immediately and rinse the tank with the best diesel you can afford.

And then change the oil

And then put on hi-viz underwear

And then repeat the UKGSer mantra "I am not a tosser" 500 times.

You might be lucky and this might not turn into a 50 page thread :blast

I'm prepared to do almost anything to save my baby but I can not for the life of me understand how the hi-viz underwear will help the situation?:nenau

That only worked because some thieving pikie like person syphoned the tank! ;)

Which is actually an excellent idea when you think about it. :D

Well it would be if they only take petrol, but the thiever's dont, diesel only for them.

Is it me or is the intelligence level in the 1200 thread lacking ? Not because of the fuel used..but more because this has raised a question ?

Another 1150 owner trawling the 1200 section. He's only asking a question.:rob

On the back cover of your new GS's riders manual it shows the recommended fuel grade for the engine. This is ... Quote ..."Premium unleaded / 98 RON" which is if I understand correctly what you have put in. Alternatively it says put in ... "Regular / 95 RON", so no worries. Hope this helps.

After reading this, if I am ever travelling through Hertfordshire I will take extra care not to need any medical attention.
