It's time to Bagger off to Porto

lol. we did the same in July when heading East / West between Spain and Portugal. we caught onto it when the satnav timings were different to the time on the bike clock.

A decent ride up to Salamanca, temp on arrival was 34.5. The flat was a challenge to find in the narrow city centre streets but it is very comfortable and cost €125 on booking.com.
We took google's offering and deviated to a fuel station in the country park to the east, it was Parque natural de Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia. Leafy and windy. Very nice.
We have stopped at some rural bars today and had warm welcomes everytime. At lunchtime we got some complimentary pork scratchings, monsters they were. Pic below.
Salamanca is easy to get into but the inner roads in the city were a challenge in the heat. Eventually we found the very generous underground parking space and the nice flat. Pete nabbed the double en-suite, didnt even offer it the fooker, got a posh wank planned I reckon.
In shock news we'll have to find our own brekkie tomorrow and somewhere to stay in Potes, nothing booked yet. Sent an email to Arsey's favourite but we are last minute on this. We'll see.
Lastly I'll leave you with some photos of Salamanca. It really is worth a look.

Salamanca was busy last night. Turns out there was a huge street parade and fireworks. A celebration of the region's virgin, they used to have those in Tilbury but there aren't any now 
There were still revellers out and about at 8am when we unsuccessfully searched for a brekkie venue, mostly students I'd say.
We set off on a google route to Riano with no brekkie. We eventually stopped for breakfast in Toro. A walled town on a hill, very nice and probably worth an over night, pics below. Ham for breakfast obviously.
Pretty good but a couple of hours of dead straight roads. Eventually the Picos became visible and I consoled myself that when I'm wading through hundreds of emails on Friday I will wish that I was on that dead straight road again. The rolling scenery in the sun was stunning though.
A quick Coke Zero in Riano as the raindrops started WTF. We set off for Potes. I booked Hosteria Peña Sagra for €75 this morning. It's all good and €5 a pint. Staff are a bit erm, direct
The N621 is freshly resurfaced. Seems like there are more speed limits than 2 years ago. I was happy to get to Potes with no incidents over the week, even if I did get sucker punched by a nob on a GS. The BMW Clitoris is very prevalent in this region.
One other GS related observation is that there were very few on the boat, two years ago there were many, wassat all about.
I honestly don't think we saw a UK bike in Portugal apart from one moment when I saw some bikes parked up that I recognised from the ferry.
So we made it, a ride to the ferry tomorrow and the M25 to deal with on Thursday night.
Unless anything ridiculous happens I'll leave it here in the hope it's a useful resource to people thinking of doing the same. Portugal is the business
