I have iTunes on an Apple Mac. Anyone able to give me step by step instructions on how to get music onto my Nav IV?

Do I need to use something like Switch to convert my music to MP3?

Very many thanks. I will give it a go. And I do hope that it is indeed "simples" or else I will be posting more questions here in the future!!!

If you leave the Nav / Garmin plugged into the PC, start double twist, it will connect to your iTunes Library, then you can import it, as well as playlists, then you will see the Nav listed in the devices in double twist, click on the Music icon and select sync this device, and you can either drag or drop from your library, or choose playlists to sync.

Once you have done it a couple of times it's really easy.

I use it to sync my library to an SD Card that I then use in the car to listen to Music and podcasts on.

I can't see how to sync Playlists.

And does doubleTwist handle converting the files to MP3?

I have now managed to get music onto the SD card in the Nav IV by dragging from the iTunes Music to the SD card (all in doubleTwist).

My problem now is that I cannot hear anything!!

As soon as I try to use the Media Player, it tells me to "Connect headphones or an A2DP Bluetooth headset". It does not accept my Sony Ericson MW600. Which is strange as the Nav IV is happy enough to sent the navigation instructions to the MW600.

If I just plug the MW600 earphones into the audio out socket on the NAV IV I can get the Media Player to open up. I can see my music and play it. But I cannot hear anything in the earphones!!!!
- I also tried plugging in my Denon C751's, and still cannot hear anything.

Puzzled!!!

How's the media volume in the mixer set?

item #2 might be turned down in your case?

I have sound (music) from the Nav IV Media Player if I plug the headphones into the Audio Out socket on the side. And I can connect by Bluetooth between my Nav IV and Sony MW headset and receive navigation directions etc on the headset. But when I am connected by BT and try to use the Nav IV's Media Player, I still get the message that I have to "Connect headphones or an A2DP Bluetooth headset".

So the navigation part of the Nav IV is happy with the headset, but the Media Player part is not!!!!

I have looked at the manual for the Sony MW600 Bluetooth headset, and cannot find any reference to "A2DP", but the Nav IV is clearly happily connected on the navigation instructions side, so I would have thought it would work!!

Maybe you have the headset connected to the phone profile, rather than the headset profile? Not sure if that is possible or if nav directions will work that way? Thought it worth asking though...

The MW600 is A2DP according to this Amazon page.

Many thanks for the continued interest and support on this. Much appreciated.

I had a late night session on this last night and I "think" that I have had it sorted.

Still not sure why the Nav IV recognised the neadset for navigation but not for audio, but I remde the BT connection a few times and eventually got the Nav IV's Media Player to recognise the Sony MW600 headset.

I think one of the issues may be that, whilst my iPhone makes the BT connection with the Nav IV automatically and immediately, the MW600 seems to be a bit more hit and miss. So sometimes I have to go into the BT menu and make sure that the MW600 is actually connected to the MW600. As I said, it seems a bit hit or miss.

I can also recommend the (free) doubleTwist software that was previously recommended to me. the software recognises both my iTunes library on my computer and also the Nav IV and the SD card in the Nav IV. It was thrn just a matter of dragging the albums I wanted from my iTunes folders to the SD card. The software then did the conversion from Apple AAC to MP3 and put it all in the SD card, complete with artiist, album, & track info.
- I have not tried Playlists yet, but I rarely use these as I quite enjoy the 'Random" facility in iTunes etc.

Anyway, I will sit back and enjoy it all now and start looking at the route planning side now!
