iTunes won't recognise my iPod

Bought a new computer and iPod Touch for my daughter.

She wants to transfer the purchased music from her old Nano but neither the new computer iTunes or the version I downloaded to my laptop last night recognise her Nano. "Unrecognised USD Device" is all I get when I connect.

Any ideas please?

would the purchased music not be on the old computer as well ? and did you transfer this to the new computer ?, so could you just not transfer it from that to the iTouch ?

Long convoluted story which ended up as yes but no. Apple provided a link so we could transfer purchased music but they were only able to transfer about 80% for various reasons ....
