I've entered the Alto Turia Ride 2009

The longest leg last year was 156km - I needed the spare fuel I was carrying. The bike was KTM 640E LC4 with a 12 liter tank !! Most of the service points are at service stations so you can refuel.
There are other places to refuel but you have to detour off the route a few miles or so.

Am planning on doing this next year, so will look forward to your experiences and thoughts later in the year.

Ok I'm In

Just entered. :hapybnce:

Have entered on the G450X but i guess i can change my mind to the 950 nearer the time.

You'll really enjoy using 450 but if you want there will not be a problem even turning up on the day on a diffrent bike.

How is your preparation going ?

So far my prep is confined to spending lots of money !

Bought so far
Spare levers
Spare tyres x2
mooses x2
touratech rally set
ram mounts for above

support, entry fee, flights and accomodation paid

joined a gym

thing is still need to do:

1. decide on which bike to take, I thought i'd decided on the G450x, but after speaking to wreford I keep waivering back to the 950se, i have googled a few articles some describe the alto as being very difficult.
2. tell the wife
3. lose 2 stone
4. get fit
5. go to the gym
6. fit the bits I have bought

what do you neeed to prep a bike before hand ,road book etc i understand tyres, levers ,etc

go with the 450 ...

The terrain is very rocky and the smaller lighter bike should be more fun
the 950/HP2 should get around but the terrain is too loose and if the ride the sand on the Beach it is a "killer"

pg

the event has not been on the beach since the first ever event.

look's like the organisers are going with the two routes for the event what they call a proffesional and a amature course.

Preperation update #2

Lots of packages have arrived at chez emsley
Small panic when I saw the size of the touratech rally set (road book & computer), and the German instructions !!

Touratech have just brought out a cockpit conversion (rally stem etc), so that should solve my mounting problems.

Touratech have also brought out a small rear rack, which should allow me to mount a bag and fuel bottle.
