I've got a stressed crack...

On the L/H side of the bike, where the Adv engine bar mounts to the engine (near to the fuel injector). A crack has appeared along the weld where the mounting bolt goes through the bar.

I seem to recall Bilko experiencing this problem. Anyone else had this happen to their engine bars and what, if anything, did BMW do about it?

Yup, same crack

Had it welded twice already, in two years.

Not by the (crack) dealer though. I didn't bother to ask them, as the bars show some touch down marks too. So they would blame it on me I suppose.

It's stainless steel AISI304 so any decently equipped welder can fix it for you.

Same problem I had Richie.........had mine replaced under warrenty with no arguement whatsoever.......and I did have visible marks on the bar indicating i'd dropped it at least once as well......it's a well known occurrence.

PS if you're getting a nasty nasty rattle/vibration from the bar at certain speeds (3500-4000 on mine) you can temoporarily cure it with a blob of blu-tack.

Ive got a fracture on the top rear weld going across the 2 peices of steel that are welded together. It looks like the sort of break you couldnt have made with 100 years of practice. Its didnt break on the weld, but across it and throught the other peice of steel. VERY VERY strange.

I rang the dealer and they said they werent sure if it was covered under AUB...

We will see Sat I guess.

Either way ive got a BIG trip in 2 weeks and its got to be sorted by then otherwise im riding with a nice noisey rattle for 6k miles...
