Or so it's said.

I noticed that one of the windscreen screws has gone AWOL on my bike. From what I can make out the part number is 46637653066 which apparently translates to a M5X18 A2-70 Binding Head Screw. Any ideas where I might be able to purchase one from?

Have done the googling thing and nothing has come to light thus far.

Hpel!

The BMW part number comes up on numerous BMW parts sales sites for a quid or so, so I'd imagine if you walk into your local BMW dealer they'll have loads kicking around.

There's one of the other side of the screen as well, so if you took that out and photographed it and be ready with a few measurements, most of us will probably have one (or dozens) tucked away as well.....the part number doesn't come up with a piccy but it'll almost certainly be a pretty standard screw :thumb2

EDIT....I'm guessing it's a dome headed screw, but it is torx or hex, and how long is it?

Have a look on the opposite side of the screen to see :)

I'm guessing that you're going to need the blind rivet that goes behind the screen as well.....and a washer (3 and 4 below)

Part number 2:

PS don't worry if that's not exactly your screen.....it's the same screw part number

FROM HERE

Alternatively find your local fasteners/tool supplier and take one one of the other screws and get a match. Often much cheaper than going to a BMW dealer.

You're right of course :)

I've just looked again, and I have a strong suspicion that the screw in question is probably the exact same screw that fits the binnacle cover on an 1150 to the instrument cluster....if it is, I've got several of them, and most people who have done any parts swapping on any GS will have them as well.

not sure where secure unit 2 is, but if its nr here (Salisbury) i probably have a substitute

And what a disappointment that would be...

I will take t'other screw out tomorrow and get an idea of size and shit.

Thanks gusy! Youre the best.

There is CBL fasteners in Hailsham..Colin is very helpful 01323 325319 ...Or Intafast 01323 502374 in Hampden park near Eastbourne..

And for the mentally challenged...there is a secure unit, Ashen Hill, on the old Hellingly Hospital site..

Search eBay for 'f800gs screen bolt' there's a number of 6 bolt kits complete with rubber flange and backing nut from £6.

I did. I went to Chandlers BMW in Portslade (no idea why I didnt think of that first) and James gave me a lovely screw for 90p.

Very nice it was too.

I let him keep the change it was that good.

Yes that's change from a pound.
