I went to a lovely little dealer in Marbella yesterday :thumby: and put a deposit on a segundamano 1200 GS LC. :beerjug:

It's a 1 owner, fully kitted 2013 bike that the owner traded in for a new triple black. He used it for a longish daily commute and some weekend runs so it has high mileage (kilometreage?) but a full service history and a year's warranty. :thumb2 As I paid the deposit with a credit card it gives me an extra layer of security.

It comes with the 3 boxes, satnav, touratwat engine bars, dynamic, comfort and security packages and an alarm. Thanks to having changed some money over a few weeks ago when the exchange rate was better, I got it for just under £10k :D

Spanish bureaucracy being what it is, they need to see my flat rental contract before they can register it to me, even though I have a resident card. 1st MOT (IVA) is due at 4 years old, then every 2 years. Road tax depends on where you live: 20 miles difference can mean 20 euros difference in cost  I also have to sort insurance and I have no idea what prices are like down here.

It's a breezy but dry 18c here today and going to stay in mid teens all week (no Adam Johnson jokes, please) so should be good for riding. I hear it's still winter in UK :augie :D I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Enjoy your new ride.

I insured my GSA LC with Linea Directa, managed to get it down to 413€ Fully Comp with European Breakdown etc.

There is no such thing as no claims discount on bike insurance in Spain.

:D Wahaayyyyy!!!!!!!!:D:D

I collected it yesterday afternoon and had a brief ride home. Wow! Every bit as good as I remembered. You'd never know it wasn't a new one from the way it rides and it cleaned up beautifully. We are now planning a longer ride for this afternoon including the brilliant A397 to Ronda, a road mentioned in many a bike launch. It's a comfortable 18c today, sunny and the wind has dropped, so should be good.

I need to get my techno-numpty head around settings, information on the dash and the navi system. It'll come eventually.

But for now, fill the tank and open the throttle :thumby:

Enjoy the new bike, it will be fun in the mountains. The mot is an itv in Spain, the Estepona one is very laid back , iva is the vat on purchasers 21%.... But now we need to see some piccies of the new bike.

oops

:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb
oh well I've just gone and got a 2nd hand wc, and ill pick it up on Saturday.....
hand over the triple black, so lets hope all well........

Congrats om new bike, u'll love it, mines 3 years old with 12k (miles) on it & most of them touring, including a couple of trips to Europe , done the Ronda roads many times, there's 2 or 3 different routes to/from Ronda back down to Marbella & the bends seem to go on forever although occasionally spoilt by boy racers. Ronda is nice little tourist town & with winter sun it'll be lovely. Take it easy & enjoy the ride..
Regards

I bought one in January - 2015 model. Traded in a K1600 GT which I loved but have no regrets. I always loved riding the K but look forward to riding the GSA even more. Our courtship is going from strength to strength - nearly in love! Hope you enjoy it as much ...... it's also good to have a new bike to buy accessories for!
