Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
In another post I quoted the demise of my IXUS 400, but in fact it still takes good photos, is it possible to get the tft screen changed and if so how much does that cost.

I like the camera and have no need to get a "better one"...

It is very hard using a digi cameras functions with no screen!!!

Got my Nikon Coolpix wet (very) in Lahinche Richie - works every now and then so took it to dealer who said forget the repair business - £150 + the bits.
Replacement standard was £200'ish so presently making a claim on my travel insurance.
Have a look on Pricerunner and see what's about - som egreat prices at present.
Just in from Costco - they have some excellent deals on at the moment.

You're probably right Jim

I will still check it out though as it should be
1. open the camera
2. Disconnect old screen and connect new
3. Close camera

So thats 1 hours labour and the part, how expensive could that be.

Don't bother answering as we all know the answer....

I got sand in my Ixus digital so the lens mechanism jammed. £250 later I got it back. Luckily those very very nice people at Abbey National insurance picked up the bill thanks to my all-risks cover on my home insurance.

A friend dropped his about a month ago, damaged the screen and had it replcaed, $150 I think he said it cost him (Aussie dollars)

Not much use to richie - but there's a place in hemel Hempsted that repairs digi cameras, it where all the big companys send them to , they will repair individual cameras, fixed price of £49.99 ( i think ) .

they repaired a friend of mines camera, and virtually renewed it.

the only thing is i haven't an address at the moment -

I'll post it up when i get it

I'll give you the others but Holidays ??

20 days a year isn't too good !

Engineering resources aren't too good either - i've been brought in to get things made back in the UK that can't be made in Aus.

Exporting pies is never going to bring much wealth to Aus.
