I've just come back from a fabulous trip to Japan and Korea. The main purpose was to do a tour of Japan by motorcycle. After investigation shipping my bike (as I have done for US, Canada and Iceland) I decided to go down an organised tour route. This was a really good decision. I spoke with the Compass guy at the ABR festival. He was great and I booked a place on the tour through HC Travel in England as I have dealt with them on many occasions over the years. I could have booked direct with Compass but HC liaised with them and organised my flights and arranged my stop-over for Korea (I wanted to go to the DMZ zone on the border with North Korea).

The Compass Rising Sun tour was excellent. It started with a meet up at Yokohama hotel where the bikes were delivered to the participants from Australia , NZ, South Africa, USA, Canada and of course UK. The accommodation used for the tour was an excellent mix of Onsens and decent hotels. with much choice of traditional Japanese cuisine. The bike choice was great. People rented a mix of GS's, Ducatis, Suzukis and Hondas. The riding was magnificent - lots of twisty mountain roads and coastal riding taking in amazing bridges and of course Mount Fuji. A day off the bike was a trip to Hiroshima by Bullet train - incredible.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like any more info or check out their website https://compassexpeditions.com

I will definitely be doing another trip with them - not sure where as Japan was the last place on my bucket list.......

Superb. My wife really wants to visit Japan....she'd never mentioned doing it as part of a bike tour...I really should mention it.....I'll either have a nice black eye or a hearty hug and 'Thanks darling'....

And potentially an empty wallet…..🤣🤣 Would just love to ride Japan. There is a pretty active riding community I hear especially in the north.

To @snakebasket - Your photos are brilliant. Thanks for sharing👍👍👍
We went to an amazing "biker cafe" on a mountain pass. It was brilliant and the bikers (as was everybody in Japan!) were so friendly. The biking scene is well supported!

Looks a great trip but that very expensive .
We did two weeks in Himalayas for 1/3 of what you paid.
Must admit I’m tempted to rent a bike myself and explore some day soon. I’m there most months and love everything about Japan, and as mentioned above the exchange rate is very favourable at the mo .
