java- servlets

I am having trouble compling a servlet program written in java. It can not find the javax.servlet.* packages I have tried to download a servlet.jar file but could not find one...


any ideas?

I am using java 1.4.2 , Help.............

That sounds very technical! Have you tried looking at www.experts-exchange.com - they usually have answers to most questions, and if they don't you can subscribe and post your own. If you don't have any luck and can give me a bit more in the way of detail, I can have a look for you, as I subscribe to it myself.

You need J2EE - http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html#sdk

J2EE - yes, that's what you want.

b.t.w. If you haven't played with Netbeans yet, it is very nice. Especially the new 4.1 beta.

Thanks guys, I think that should work now.

I haven't been programming long and I havent done any Java before there is that many different downloads it can be confusing.
