A mate did it in 11hrs 14mins in 1984, on a Z750 Turbo.

Read the article published in Superbike at the time:
http://www.champ.org.uk/bikes/endtoend.htm

AFAIK this is still the unofficial record. A number of magazines have tried to beat it on more modern machinery but a combination of speed enforcement and traffic density has defeated them.

Wessie....Dead right......That ride is considered to be the unofficial record........"Bike" magazine have got a running article on three jokers trying to beat it.

Go for it !!!!

I believe Terry's goal is to break that record. He is going to contact Laughing Gas about some extra 'power' for the GS. A turbo conversion might have to be considered as nitrous is too short term.

I think there is a hope that Richard Hammond might get interested and have a small feature on Top Gear. In the absence of this Terry will be looking for a volunter to drive as a pursuit vehicle to act as backup if required but predominantly as a camera vehicle. Something quick will be required to make up the ground lost in traffic. Ming - fancy running in that new Porsche of yours??

Any financial contributions towards the preparation for this event would be gratefully received I am sure.

Put me down for a fiver Terry, I think we'd all love to see how you get on:thumb

Did LE/JOG with a mate two years back but we took the A roads and a scenic route over three days.

It was pretty good fun but there was no time pressure on us, which was great.

The weather turned really nasty beyond Perth, with storm force gales and blizzard snow conditions.

All the buttons froze up on my GS but my mate had no problems at all with his FJR.
