Recently bought my first big bike, which was a very exciting time for me, and dont get me wrong, I love my GS. However, not overly impressed with the service, firstly, felt done on my trade in, I wasn't kept up-to-date and I generally had to phone them, still waiting on my manuals (18 days and counting) and once I agreed to have an alarm fitted they said they would through in a scottoiler - got the scottoiler but have been charged handsomely for it, unfortunately I have signed the contract. Quite honestly, I will have a BMW again, another GS, but more powerful but I wont be going to Dundee for it. The guys there are nice blokes but there is only 2 of them.

Hi Biker74,

I'd go back and speak to them. Certainly about the Scotoiler. Alan's a decent enough bloke. Have the chat and see what he says. Maybe they'll give you trhe first sevice for Free. No harm in asking.

Good Luck.

Have you spoken to Alan Dalziel about being charged for the Scottoiler when the deal was that you would get one included in the price of the bike?

It seems to be yet another way that John Clark's can make a few more pennies out of you. Last year I was charged for fitting all non factory fit accessories on a new Bike. I've never been charged for that before when I've ordered with the bike.

Perhaps it was goodwill previously, I checked with BMW HQ direct and their view, was that it was up to individual dealers.

Well John Clark's lack of goodwill is something that registers with me every time. Will I by another new bike from them? Well lets just say if they become a bit more customer focued and a little less money orientated I'll consider it, but I will look around next time and they will not necessaraly be my fisrt choice, it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I travelled through from Glasgow to get a bike at Dundee and found Alan to be very helpful. Big problem seems to be a lack of staff, if they are not dealing with a customer they seem to be chasing around playing catch up and I think this is where they are losing out on customer service, they would appear to be so busy they forget things and I found myself phoning to remind them of my requirements. The bottom line is if you do not feel happy with the service (like I did with Motorrad sales staff in Glasgow) then try elsewhere. There are plenty of dealers out there more than willing to look after you. My first R1150GS was purchased from CW in Dorchester who were excellent to deal with considering they knew they would never see the bike again as it was heading back to Glasgow, they discounted all optional extras fitted to the bike and fitted them FOC, which by coincidence was the same deal from Clarks.
