Did anyone go
I didnae ken ocht aboot it till today:nenau

Didnae get an invite only a reminder that my bikes a year old and could do with a service:(
Was there any good deals on the 650gs's or any 1150's as Tash's bike is 2 yrs old now and she may want to trade up:nenau

They seemed to do quite well. Alan said he'd sold £20K's worth of kit and 12 bikes. I didn't go in the end because they wouldn't insure my 24 year old son for test rides. You need to be 25 apparently. :(

Plus, they might have seen how fast you ride at and thought "Like Faither..." :augie :D

Mr Dalziel has been known to keep up with me on his R1, you know....;)

They'd have been right though. Six months in, only passed his test last October, he's complaining of having outgrown the Hornet's bouncy suspension. First time he rode it he came back saying he'd just been out deliberately locking up the front wheel to find out where the limits are. Yes, I know, my fault for teaching him to drive a car when he was eight and getting him into kart racing when he was 10.

Musta done well on Sunday then.
I was there on Saturday. Bought a pair o' breeks & gloves. The discount wasn't up to much - only 25% on the breeks. (got my Rallye 2 Pro jacket at Alford for 50% last year). Nigel wouldn't give & take at all. Saw one guy buying a helmet and that was all. The advertised 40% off was on selected lines only.

The weather was shyte so there were a lot of slow guys on the demo runs I was on (G650 Xcountry, F800ST, R1200GS). Having said that, I was on the first run on the G650 with Rennie Ritchie and son on K12's, so I was the slow one. I also tried for the K1200R Sport, but nae fuel so punted onto the K1200R and guess what - nae fuel, and the GS was onto the low fuel warning by the time I got back too. Seems BMW Motorrad were a wee bit stingy with the fuel.

I've since heard lots of discontented rumblings from guys who were there specifically to buy clothing or helmets without success, 'cos there was nothing in their sizes, so no sales of Rallye 2 Pro suit and System helmet.

On the plus side, well done Andy Cromar for manning the barbie and dishing up bacon, sausages and burgers, all done to a Tee, and Motorrad for the coffee.

And no, I'm not trading my 1150GS (waiting to try the just announced F800GS when it arrives). Even then...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event was publicised on Clarks website and the local paper.

I read somewhere recently (possibly on their web site) that John Clark Aberdeen are no longer selling bikes; that will be done from Dundee.

And worse - John Clark is no longer having an open day at Alford in September prior to the "Bikers' Convention". I used to enjoy that run plus the opportunity to try out a range of bikes. I never stayed for the Sunday Convention though.

Looks as though I will have to attend the Dundee events in future.

Bob.

I suspect they have become a victum of their own success. In past years you could make a real saving with BMW clothing at their weekends. The BMW riding community in Scotland are a canny lot and lots of folk used to wait for the open day rather than buying at normal retail. Matbe overall this had a negitice effect on sales over the year

It was the same with Hein Gericke at the BMF shows, a few years ago people where picking up slight seconds Turarg jackets for £15. Not seen a decent HG sale at any show for ages. I suspect a decision was made that overall it devalues the product.

Can't say I was too impressed with it either, couple of burgers a coffee and a single test ride and wet, still an excuse to get out on the bike for a little 500 mile jaunt :)
