john o'groats

Hi all,im looking to have a trip to john o'groats at the end of the month,can anyone recomend me a good b+b with secure parking.

Can you also recomend a route for a ride out.Ive never been to the area before so would like to take in some of the scenary before heading home.Im hoping to head up early on the 28th and go back on the 30th.I know its not a lot of time to do this in but its the only spare time i'll have due to other commitments.

As said, you wont need secure parking, but if you're bothered, The Sutherland Arms at Golspie do it. The guard dog's a very friendly collie, but your bike will be behind locked gates.

BTW - security definitely not an issue up here. I don't honestly remember one instance of a bike being nicked in the 7 years I've been here (same goes for cars) - and we get a lot of bikes in Summer.

Ah, OK.

The JOG SYHA (Canisbay to be precise) is a very nice place - the only two potential downsides are that it is 3 miles to the nearest pub (Seaview in JOG) and that they expect everyone to be back in by 23:00hrs.

Nice peeps that run it, though. We do a fair bit of work with the cyclists who stay there.
