JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

Could someone help and provide this info please.

R1100GS 1999 fitted with standard exhaust, Co-Pot but no lambda sensor installed (from new).

John, has supplied Stage 9 chip which I've fitted and bike runs fine but i suspect fuelling is a little rich.

Could someone let me know which terminals to bridge out as there is no CCP currently installed, once I have this information I'll make up suitable wire bridge.

Thanks

How's it running?

Early days to be honest Dermot, as I haven't had the opportunity to get the mileage on the bike and zero mileage with the 30/87A jumper connected. What I can say is the engine is so tractable and smooth, pulling in top without protest was mighty impressive. Midrange power much improved so all in all would seem a fantastic modification and makes the bike a treat to ride.

I haven't carried out the CO-POT adjustment yet a recommended by John.

Let me know how you get on, I have the same, 1999 bike with stage 9, adjusted CO2, runs lovely and not noticed running any richer over 500 miles so far, more to come, mpg running at between 50 and 52mpg

I took a spin last night.. and stage 9 chip is a huge tiger leap after stage 4!!👍

My setup is now:
- kat removed
- washable UNI foam filter
- Laser exhaust (straight)
- pretty free db killer
- hall sensors just renewed.

Bottom torque is amazing, it wasnt weak before but now theres grunt even more. Middle feels a bit weak (this is just a feeling, theres still at least enough power) but again at high revs theres more boost. 💥💨

K60 Scout is just futile when blasting trough gravel and making loooooong slides 🙈

With just serviced shocks and extra power in engine bike feels like new :) It lost much weight with new exhaust and that might affect also. Feels like its just same where you throw it and it'll just cope situation.

I need to change new sparkplugs, old ones have been there already a while and fine tune the engine.

And i also started to think about where could get a big diameter air inlet to airbox for reasonable pricing and how would S heads or cams affect...

hello im going to put a stage 8 chip in my single spark bmw r1150gs tommmorow has the stock filter and y piece do have a stage 9 I will try stage 8 first .

Hi Alan. Did you fit the stage 9 chip ? Note that the stage 9 chip gives little more richer fuel at high rpms.
If you have the stock air filter on your bike, fit the stage 8 chip, i think it is better.
Anyway we are waiting for your results.

Hi John,

Just fitted the RS stage 8 onto the 1150GSA as you recommended.

Will have to wait for a report as my FD missing at the moment, but am sure it will be as good or better than the stage 4 :-)

I remember you said the Cat codes are different for the RS chip ? Can you help ?

Will email you that bin file tonight.

Cheers
Gerard

The Chip from RS will work on your R1100GS if you fit the large air intake tubes. Also needs a good after market exhaust.
The CCP should be the red (pins 30,87,87a) or yellow (30,87). Try it and let us know please :)

No large tubes here.

1150gsa, uni filter, y-piece and remus.

Better go for the GS chip then ?

Yes little better only at high rpms, more richer fuel at all revs of rpms.

There are multiplay maps :

The CCP for R1150GS is the yellow pins 30,87. It is for better consumption. Also you can try the red CCP (pins 30,87,87a) it is little richer fuel (i suggest it by large air intake tubes RS-RT).

Note finally when connect the pin 86, you can burn low octane petrols (91 ron petrols).
So :
Correct CCP : Yellow (pins 30,87).
Richer : Red (pins 30,87,87a).
Low octane : Pins 30,86,87 or by richer fuel 30,86,87,87a

The pins of the Coding Plug (CCP) don't work that way for the R1150. For instance 30-86-87-87a selects a map called Keine Serie. And 30-86-87 selects R1100S on my bike and Keine Serie on others. I recommend the stock coding plug.

Your bike is twin spark Roger. Work only two set of maps. 30,87 and 30,87,87a (stock).

John, I have this data from many R1150s. It is as I said. The only real way to know what a coding plug does on a given model is to use a GS-911 to read the code. My 1150 has maps in 6 or 7 of the 8 coding plug locations. Some 1150s only have 4 or 5. The general advice you gave is wrong, and pin 86 is not an octane control.

Please see these examples. http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread...-R1150-Decoded&p=994823&viewfull=1#post994823.

The bin file from R1150GS ADV, has multiplay maps, the pin 86 works for low octane petrols.

John, Earlier you referenced the GS not the GSA. But that doesn't matter. 86 isn't an Octane pin.

There is a section of the BIN file that displays the text names for the 8 different maps. It is in the middle of the file. Can you cut and paste the text from that section of the file and post it here?

That is the coding section of R1150GS single spark bin file.
There are maps for R1150GS (CCP 30,87), R1150GS Us (CCP 30,86,87 that is for low octane). R1150RT (CCP 30,87,87a) and R1150RTUs (CCP 30,86,87,87 low octane too).
